NO-Explode is my favorite supp. I can't stand whey protein, tastes and smells like shit. I also like creatine infusion (liquid). I work out 5 days a week, MWF upper body, TT lower body. Play basketball for my cardio. I do a lot of heavy reps, I like to get stronger. Thats the thing that people don't understand is the only way you get stronger is doing heavier weight.

If you stay at the same weight every time you workout then your not going to get stronger. You aren't stimulating you muscles effectively at all. Change your reps work out to work out (ex. 5x5, 5x4x3x2x1, 3x3, 10x8x6x4x2, etc) You got to mix things up.

I have been working out for the past 5 years. Played football in HS and 1 season of college football.

Just curious what are yall maxes and weight/height?
Age-19
6'2 205lbs
Bench-370
Squat-475
Power Clean-315

I work out religiously 3x a week. The most important thing I'd recommend to any beginner would be to focus on heavy compound lifts (Squat, Deadlift, Bench, Overhead/Military Press, Rows) over machine/free weight isolation exercises. If you want to grow bigger and stronger fast without steroids, you should be incorporating these into your routine.

Cut - if those are really your maxes, that is impressive...almost at competitive powerlifter status for your weight/age -- but I must say NO-Xplode is way overhyped and there are far cheaper and more effective alternatives if that's really what you're into.

You smoke a pack a day AND you're obese? Dude.

The best thing for you would be cardiovascular exercise, aka running. Start doing it now, it will make a difference, but sitting on your arse talking about it won't. Best of luck.

Fuck running unless you like it.

AdexhibitJason: the blog is a good idea, but it'll fail if you're not into it. The blog isn't going to make you lose weight. Pick something you love doing: basketball, baseball, climbing, whatever, so you have an actual plan to lose weight.

For some reason I just had this idea... if you're a farm boy, blog about losing weight using farm equiptment... the most innovative exercises are the best kind of exercises! You'll have that niche domination in a minute haha.

Your right about NO-Explode, I perfer the taste out of most any NO base supps. I could buy NO tabs for like $10 for a month supply but I pay for what I like to believe is a placebo effect. Which I am ok with.

Heres my friend benching 415 His max is 425. He's a month younger than me but he's 6 foot 260lbs. I'm the guy spotting.

I competed in HS for weight lifting. And the two things that you do is bench and power clean/jerk. I think I got 320lbs comp style (much harder you have to hold the weight on your chest till judge says up) and like 275 on jerk. I could clean like 315 but I couldn't jerk that well at all. I was 17 when I last competed.

I might get back into comp just got to work out harder on technique.

When I was 14 I was like 5'10, So if I was suppose to be 6'7 and I only made it to 6'2 then I guess I did stunt my growth. But I don't think that was the case at all. I started working out after my balls dropped so maybe that had something to do with.

Why I gotta be a farm boy just because I am from WI thanks. I feel so hick now. By the way I am not a farm boy.

The reason the blog idea would be good is because it does interest me. How many people can I get to follow me. Will I be able to inspire any one else to do the same.

I am morbidly obese by the medical standard. I do not look it but I do feel it. Honestly I have been thinking of making some sort of blog and getting all this weight off. I have a couple ideas to honestly monetize it and hopefully get some people to motivate me to go through with it all.
It is real hard being overweight. I have been my whole life. A couple years ago I was able to drop a lot of weight extremely fast. Since then I have gained that back and another 30-50lbs.

Welcome to CrossFit: Forging Elite Fitness

Great stuff, and perfect for you as it promotes total body fitness. Isolation exercises aren't really stressed, but total body fitness through core/functional exercises are. Just do the workout of the day and you're set. Stuff like:

3 rounds for time of:
Run 800 meters
1.5 pood Kettlebell swing, 21 reps
95 pound Thruster, 21 reps
21 Pull-ups

For time:
45 Double-unders
135 pound Squat clean, 45 reps
45 Ring Dips
45 Double-unders

Be warned though: The workout of the day will break your balls especially starting out.

Anyways I'm a professional caddie. Not a tour caddie lets, get that strait. I get a lot of exercise typically 5 days a week. I read about others and NO-Explode, that stuff all it really did for me is give me bigger pumps. It did not really help my energy or muscle at all. Yes, I did take quite a bit of that stuff only to find it useless in the long run.

Get yourself a big tub of protien shake mix. Like Muscle Milk or Cyto-Gain [btw Cyto Gain has more protine in it and Muscle Milk has more designer fats to help you gain lean muscle] either way. You can also go for the cheaper whey protine, I'm not sure how that tastes because I was always willing to spend the money on other stuff.

Anyways, work out a few times a week + protine shakes 2-3 times a day, eat a bit of meat and prosper.

No shit, not everyone from Wisconsin grows up on a fucking farm. It's even getting more rare now. That's like us saying everyone in the south is a redneck retard. [more true than not, but I have to give the benefit of the doubt.]

Get the fuck off wisconsin. Sorry we kick ass.

None of the fancy marketing shit with false claims, just great supplements.

My gym routine is a MWF split alternating upper body and lower body days.

Monday is usually Max Effort day (ME) where I work up to 5 rep maxes on all my big lifts for that day.

Wednesday is the same as monday, but focusing on the other half of the body.

Friday is Dynamic Effort day (DE) where I either work on speed and explosiveness with lighter weights, or focus on muscular endurance with some higher reps.

Then the following Monday is another DE day focusing on the other half of the body.

All other days, except Sunday, are my GPP days where I either run stairs, jump rope, speed ladder, hill runs, sprint intervals on the treadmll, or anything else I can think of for about 30 minutes. I hate cardio, so anything I can do that isn't monotonous then I do it.

Used to lift weight alot when I was younger (post-HS). Was able to squat 425lbs and dead lift 390lbs. After entering the corporate workforce, time for that faded and I put on some weight. Went from 185lbs to 270lbs (although I look more like 225lbs).

Just recently quit my day job so I have a ton more free time and am getting back into working out. I tried doing MMA training but I injured my hands on the first day and knew that wasn't going to be a smart risk in the long run (being a coder, need my hands). For now, I'm doing some work with a kettlebell, light cardio and swimming everyday.

I had no idea there were this many dudes that hit gym and train MMA. I don't feel like such a stud now :(

audax: If you're worried about your hands, just stick to the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It's very low impact but a helluva workout. It will also turn you into an arm-breaking badass and that's always a plus :D.

Yeah I've considered that too. The main problem with the MMA training I had was the time of day the class was available. I was getting off work at 5PM and the first class at 5:30 was females only. Next class was at 6:30, which put me not getting home until 8ish for a late dinner. Now that I have a flexible schedule I've considered trying MMA or BJJ again. My first day in MMA I got elbowed in the adam's apple and submitted by a kimura. :D That hurt for a couple days.

Keep up the work on the Kettlebell, it is a great training tool.

Just curious, what kind of routine are you doing with the Kettlebell?

Haven't started quite yet. Ordered a bell and found a local trainer (10 classes for $150) to get me started on a routine. I'll know more later this week. :)

I just started working out maybe 5-6 weeks ago and gained ~10 pounds so far. I'm now 6'1" 160 lbs. I take Sizeon creatine during my workout. I'm on a 4-day split. I've been looking for a good protein shake and right now Muscle Juice is looking good, but I'm not too sure. I'm trying to get up to ~190 but I think my biggest problem is I don't eat enough. I guess I just naturally have a small stomach and I get full really fast. Having a ridiculously fast metabolism doesn't help either. If only there was a way to expand my stomach...man I'd be jacked :-)
