If you're a lazy bum the problem isn't how to be more productive, you can read all the books you want and they won't help you just need to be less lazy and work. If you work your ass off and aren't as efficient as possible then and only then can productivity books help you.

Reading helps. Its like a diet for your mind. Instead of watching tv or porn, read a book. Dont be hatting on productivity books. I'll learned how to keep a much better planner and sometimes we just need a reminder. Get of the treadmill and learn a new productivity skill or idea.
Actually using these ideas is another story.

Rich Dad Poor Dad is a joke, and I thought they found out that he lied about everything in the book?

Regardless of whether he was representing his own shit accurately, it changed the way I (and many other people) viewed finances, specifically regarding assets and liabilities.
