But who's there to blame, really?
If the parents raised the kid better, taught him values, hard work, appreciation etc.. the kid wouldn't get the idea to do this..
But if the grandparents of the kid raised their kids to raise their kids right, the problem wouldn't happen..
It goes on forever...
Bullshit.
It didn't go on forever before.
Do you think Thomas Jefferson or Abe Lincoln let their kids walk all over them? Or even most parents in the year 1920?
No chance. Something artificial started with the lowering of standards in parents, almost exclusively since the baby boom.
There are two camps on this issue:
TV and
Immigration.
The TV camp says we lowered our standards gradually between I love Lucy and Jersey Shore. Since Parents now use the TV or at least hollywood movies as their babysitters it's the TV, not the parents,
for the first time in Human Evolution that is teaching our kids how to think about even the most basic things. I'm with the TV Camp. Parents are no longer the prime source of a Kid's intellect anymore. TV Networks are.
The Immigration camp (I'd bet Hellblazer is part of this one) says that since we started letting lower-class races integrate with our own they instantly brought instability and lower-class values with them.
Although there may be some truth to the immigration camp, it's obvious that the force of change doesn't succeed as often because it is often met with social backlash and even political upheaval. (Think of race wars or pissed off old white people. American history is riddled with conflict between social classes.)
With the immigration camp, there is resistance. With the TV camp, there is none... Both child and parent allow it to happen and the TV is the winner. (Or the advertisers, technically.)
