At least a couple of you saw it... At least got close...
I've been in the air (literally) for the last two days but I saw this news story en route and couldn't wait to get here and find out which ones of you fags aren't idiots.
The two above are officially brighter than a turnip... The rest of WF isn't doing so well right now.
To those who haven't figured it out yet; this news story could not have taken place if the DHS wasn't monitoring EVERY TWITTER FEED ON EARTH, linking accounts to real people, and acting in real time to prevent any perceived threats.
Sure, they're just doing a keyword search no doubt; someone said "destroy america" (Hi feds - Just quoting!) and their search bot sent the tweet to an analyst no doubt, certainly one with no humor at all.
But the really interesting part is that the feds tied the twitter account to a real person and put out a warning for them at the airport(s).
Anyone see a problem with this? A social media account = A person?
There is less privacy online than any of us can imagine. And that knowledge of your Identity is already being acted on by the US Government, even if you live elsewhere in the world. This is FACT. No conspiracy theory here.
With our newfound fame as abusers of drone attacks, it won't take long until this turns into a source of information that we use to assassinate people by drone. At the very least you can expect the # of keyword phrases they are searching for constantly to rapidly increase and eventually they'll know more than you can possibly believe about every last person with a social media account. Keywords like "walk my dog" or "went to Notre Dame" will be stored and categoried, AUTOMATICALLY.
Millions of such keyword searches all filing real people every single day.
What a fucking Orwellian nightmare this country is rapidly turning into.
Frankly, I'm still in shock at this whole thing. These kids never should've been detained over something like this and then on top of that, deported back to the UK so they couldn't even have their vacation...although after what happened, who would want to stay??
And then to add insult to injury, many people in this country seem to think that this warrants a full body search and being treated like a criminal. Go on Huffington and read some of the comments. It's a lot of flag-waving idiots defending the TSA cause they "did their job." These dumbasses have been brainwashed since birth to believe whatever they're told. It's just amazing to me how people are willing to trade in freedom for an ounce of security.
So now that I'm totally paranoid...what I'd like to know is, are these KW searches limited to social networking sites or are they monitoring search engines too? What if a writer needs to do research on a topic that is sensitive in nature and contains some of those phrases that trigger a red flag? How is a person supposed to gather info on a topic to write about it without being suspected as a terrorist? Now you're assuming everyone in this country is guilty until proven innocent.
Not exactly "land of the free" anymore, is it?
