One of my darlings managed to break a DS game. She thinks it got too close to a very strong magnet that hold's a hook onto a metal door. However it happened, it no longer plays in her DS -- the main screen comes up, but it freezes there :angryfire: .

Her other game works (she only has two -- she just got the DS this Christmas.) so it seems it's not the DS that's broken.

So - you experienced gamers on here. Any recourse? Should she be able to send it back to the game company for a discounted exchange? It's going to take weeks worth of allowance for her to replace it otherwise, (Yes, I am the mean Mommy!)

ok i worked for nintendo, first how old is the game, (how long have you had it) if it been longer then 90 days your fucked. but we cant track games' age so if you say you just bought it and told them it does not work and the store will not take it back, they most likley will repair it for you or replace it, if you can do any advance replacement on it, not sure if you can do it anymore on DS games, you will have to pay 5 bucks for shipping and handling but you will get it in a couple of days. give the details on the game and ill tell you how to get your shit taken care of for nothing or almost nothing if at all possible.

Yes, her other game works just fine, so the DS itself seems fine.

She got it for Christmas, and I bought it on black friday. So it was actually purchased less than 90 days ago.

I'm not sure if you need anything else -- UPK # or codes from the cartridge itself, etc.

Just call up Nintendo and they will take care of it for you, just tell them the game stopped working, they will have you do some troubleshooting that may or may not help most likely wont, just jump through there hoops and they will get you a reman copy or repair it, and it will take a little bit of time for you to get so dont be surprised, i think is about 10 to 15 days for shipping both ways and repair time.

Buy the kid a new game.

2 games, wtf is that?

I told my daughter what you said. Of course I wasn't at the computer at the moment, and couldn't quote you verbatim. I paraphrased as follows,

"Only two games! What's the matter with you, you cheap bastard! Buy the kid some games!"

She fell out laughing, and nearly busted a gut. Thought you'd like to know.

Can we create an Amazon wishlist and send this kid some games already? This is total bullshit.

this is hardly a game

Actually, I heartily agree.

But she picked it out. She enjoys playing it. She's bummed it's broken. But she's happy to hear that Nintendo will probably replace it.

The other game she picked out was similar -- "NY Fashion Designer"

What can I say. She's not into impressing anyone with her "skilz."

Yea I took my daughter to Gamestop over the weekend for a new DS game. I was so trying to persuade her to pick up End War but she went for some sim horse game or something instead.

So the kid wants to be in fashion or design when she grows up ... WF needs to get off her ass about what she enjoys playing and let her be a kid.
