Buy new laptop before the new year or after?

so i can use a new laptop, i don't NEED one, but i wouldn't complain if I got a new one.

the only reason i dont want to buy right now is because mine still works, and i know if i waited longer i can get more performance for cheaper.

but the only reason i'm thinkin of getting one before the new year is so i can write it off.

so what do i do... wait? or just go for it and write that mofo off to keep more of my profits ?
