Just got the email from Amazon "re-inviting" me to their program after Jerry Brown repealed the tax law that made them blow out all California affiliates a month ago. Guess I shouldn't have converted all of my Amazon sites over to other platforms after all.

Just heard about it. Apparently it was a deal done because Amazon promised to add a certain amount of jobs in CA. Also this a huge deal for Amazon since CA is the largest US state, meaning other states won't try to follow with setting up an Amazon tax.

+1 to Corporations!

Back in business...Sold few items already. I wonder if they could give us credit for items sold from the previous month(s)? I for one never went back and changed any links.

Eh... been to Vegas looking for places to buy so many times since the tax law passed, just may still move there just for a change of pace. Also the Amazon tax really put into perspective the dependency issues within the business. It really helped open the mind to other ideas and strategies to avoid being shafted completely by one entity.

Same feeling here reading the news. I'm happy for California affiliates.
And some idiots want to attack Wall Street...
I've got nothing against corporations or Wall Street. My father actually works at one of the top 3 banks so get a grip mate.

Damn, it looks like this was just an exception for Amazon affiliates. What about the advertisers on CJ/LinkShare/ShareASale that wanted to give me the boot before I changed my address?

Looks like I'm still relocating to Wyoming if they can't get around this...

Congrats guys!
Tennessee's previous Governor made a similar deal with Amazon in exchange for them building two distribution centers in the state. It has been in the news here somewhat lately, though, because while the current Governor has stated he has no intention of changing anything, the Legislature isn't unanimous in making the same promise. Hopefully we don't have a nexus tax issue in our future. :/

I just wanted to agree with your affirmations.
Maybe you have misunderstood my irony. I myself have nothing against corporations and financial markets, I am against those idiots.

lol @ everyone thinking Amazon won, Amazon caved.

Amazon 86'd their affiliates thinking that would sever the nexus, but the Cali bill passed and signed by Jerry Brown still ties a nexus to Amazon's spin off company responsible for the Kindle so they weren't off the hook for taxes unless they wanted to fight it in court. Amazon only "wins" if a Federal tax supersedes a state tax by July 1 of 2012 otherwise Amazon is on the hook for collecting state taxes going forward.
