Can Anyone Recommend A Talented But Inexpensive Logo Designer?

How I wasted 82 working days on a logo I didn’t want - The Next Web

First, any time you bring in someone to work on a task, you want to get the right person for the job. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a plumber that comes to your house to fix that leaky faucet to the new VP of Marketing who sold you on “Ninja Social Skills.” For jobs requiring creativity, a single person with the right dexterity (let’s go nuts and take Sir Jony Ive as an example) is probably going to be more of a sure thing than 100,000 unknowns.

Assuming that numbers can cure your creativity problem is a fallacy. It winds up being more like playing the lottery.

But if you know exactly what you are looking for, and simply need assistance in executing precise ideas, crowdsourcing can be a wonderful option.

But if you are looking for something more cognitive, there is no escaping working with real artists—designers with actual portfolios—on places like Dribbble and Adobe’s Behance network. It will cost you a lot more, but you will get what you want at the end.

I'm biased and will always prefer the quality of individual artists over that of the crowdsource collective. If your project doesn't require a unique or clever logo concept, you'll definitely find a lot of what you're looking for from GraphicRiver or 99designs-like talent.

I'm having trouble finding someone to do a logo for under $15/hour on Odesk that's actually talented. Most of these guys do work that look like 1st year Photoshop users or they post someone else's work and claim it as their own.

Would be nice to find someone affordable who can do work that actually looks professional.

You do know that what you're looking for is an oxymoron right?

What the hell do you guys spend your days doing? You'll save so much time working with a good designer that charges a decent rate. It's sustainable business. You build, God forbid, long term partnerships with decent people with decent skills that can reliably supply you with what you need when you need it.

People that charge professional prices do professional work. People that charge low prices do low quality work, or otherwise waste your time due to not delivering on time, being "in school" and not getting your update requests, not having enough money to pay for the rent and losing their internet connection for a month, having the English comprehension skills of an octopus and handing you a red logo when you asked for a blue one... The list goes on and on.

Stop wasting your time. It's worth more than money.

I know the feeling. I'm looking for a good corporate lawyer right now, and they always laugh at me when I tell them I'm willing to pay up to $30/hour, but only if they're exceptionally good. Still not sure what the problem is...

Ok so let's redirect this the other way. Where would I go if I'm willing to spend $500 to get a great logo? I tried a local lady once for $300 who disappointed me bigtime, even after numerous iterations, suggestions, etc. Fuck I'd prolly pay $1000 if I could get something outstanding. I'm extremely picky, so even to this day I don't have a proper logo.

If you are ready to shell out that amount of money, try 99designs.

(You get some PR and link juice too from the DA 77 domain).

Now we're talking. I think you'll find there are a few talented designers here that can help you.

All these serious responses to a numbnut that deserved nothing more than a "Peasant Spotted" graphic.

I am SO disappoint.

I'm trying to fulfill the conditions of the client who specifically asked to find a talented, affordable designer specifically on Odesk where his account is.

But I guess that makes me a numbnut in your world.
