Can I have TOO MANY Tumblr backlinks?

I made a tumblr for my website and it's been going really well, I get followers everyday naturally and all my posts usually get 50-100+ Notes with my most having 7k Notes. I drop a link in these posts usually so my questions are:

1. How beneficial is the SEO Juice from the links I drop on my tumblr posts that get reblogged a ton?

2. If I generate too many backlinks from tumblr will I get penalized by google?

I dont think its possible to be penalized by a search engine for having to many Tumblr backlinks.

Its a natural thing that happens to any url that blows up on Tumblr, Pinterest, WeHeartIt, etc.

You'll be fine.

Just wondering can you rank high solely on tumblr/pinterest backlinks?

Pinterest and reddit are nofollow, so I'm assuming nofollow DOES give link juice?

Btw my website is about 1 month old and it has a ton of natural instagram/pinterest/tumblr followers and links from those social media websites. It's mostly an image website if that matters.

How long until I reap the SEO benefits of all these social signals/links and get some ranking in?
 
OP...you're asking a whole bunch of "what if" questions that mean very little to your success or failure. Just get crackin' on the hustle and you'll see results.

Also, keep in mind that there are other variables that signal a tumblr post going viral other than just a ton of backlinks. If you're trying to game the platform, make sure you're hitting those other factors as well. Google isn't dumb. If, in theory, you're only showing 1 out of however many factors that signal a viral post, it will be highly suspicious to them.
