I'm done with this car! - MustangForums.com

My car was idling like crap the other day so I figured since I just got it, it may have been awhile since anyone changed the oil out. I decided to go ahead and change the oil. I used Mobile 1 synthentic oil like I was reccomended on here. Anyways, I drain out the oil and noticed it was extremely dark and even after 10 minutes of draining, it was still coming out. I decided to go ahead and flush it to make sure all the bad stuff got out. I hooked up the hose, ran water through the engine, started it up and was waiting for the water to come out clean (The engine never went above idle so I was told this would be ok). Anyways, About 3 minutes into this, then engine starts shaking and shuts off. I figured it was all cleaned out so I plugged it up, added the oil and figured I was ready to go. WRONG! The car won't freaking start now. This car has been nothing but trouble for me, I think I am done with it.

i lol'd

Anyone who thinks water should go in an engine deserves to have their car break down. The problem was likely in their transmission if it was idling and jumpy, or the fuel injectors.

Only place I can see using water temporarily for flushing something out is the coolant/radiator, etc. Water anywhere else, you should just go ahead and shoot yourself.

The guy probably didn't bother to uncap the top to let the pressure push more of the oil out. And yea its going to take several minutes obviously.

Actually, there is water injection, and then there is steaming.
So at least in two applications, water does go into the engine -- inside the combustion chamber.

But yeah, the guy is a moron, or more likely a troll.

The first time I got a truck from a dealer I had it 1 or 2 days and noticed the oil was a bit low, so I decided I was going to change the oil just for the hell of it. I got under there, loosened the bolt and drained it all out; noticed that it had a weird color to it. I had 5 quarts of fresh oil, I put like 3 in there and it was above the 'full' mark.

A day later I was on the interstate and heard this bad grinding in the transmission, then gears 3,4,5 no longer worked. 1st sucked pretty bad as well. So I took it back to the dealer and told them something was wrong with the transmission, so they got me a rental car for about a week.

When I got it back, they had put a new transmission and clutch in it. I asked them what was wrong with it, and they were like "we don't know," and had the look of someone who just got bitched out for putting a truck on the lot with no transmission fluid. And that's how I learned to drive manual 5-speed, and that the oil drain plug is not on the bottom of the transmission.

+1. I've actually done this... Well, sort of...

I was 18, and did my first motor swap... Had no idea wtf I was doing, but figured it out along the way in my garage... Get it all together, and what do you know, it runs!

A month later, driving down the road, and my wheels lock up.

I forgot to put oil in the tranny when I bolted it up. It blew into pieces.

FML.

And to the OP:
My grandma once put water in her oil in her Caddi! Luckily she realized it before she started the car "I need you to come down here... I was low on coolant and... I put water in the car but I dont know if I put it in the right place"

Engine flushing sucks. lol

And, umm... What the fuck was this guy doing letting his car idle while he drained the oil anyways?? What a fucking dipshit!

When I was a lot younger I changed my own oil all the time. One time I guess I didn't put the plug in tight enough and it worked it's way loose as I was going down the interstate.

What fun.

Luckily I noticed the big plume of smoke behind my car. I also had fishing sinkers and a couple quarts of oil so I fixed it on the side of the road.

Next time I'll have to make sure I wash it out though :)

Yeah, I like those guys at that forum haha.

Icecube - where did you get your avatar? I used to have one like it at Neverside.com

Lol... I've fixed up douchebages with CAI that flood on lowered civics.
But purposely adding water, that's just epic.

I would love to work on this guys car, $500 fixes all day long.
