This is not an introduction post but rather a (bias) forum comparison from personal experience. And since we're here to STS I thought why not give it a go, uh.

Alright long story short I stumbled into getting interested with internet marketing via some sleezy squeeze page by some overrated marketer and I was so sold by the thought of making money online that I almost bought the crap.. Almost.

But I've always been a huge pirate so I first thought to Google out the program and boom - found it for free on Blackhatteam - which I fell in love with - a cracking community that shares "helpful" knowledge and people are in it to make money.

Was quite a loyal member, like 2 years ago for 6 months till BOOM people started getting banned for sharing helpful information, everything useful got put into premium section :xomunch: so I was like FUCK THIS.

.. bit later I went into army but my army service is coming into an end soon and I'm in a situation I feel like participating in a community again, y'know to play a wiseass and whatnot. But what forum?

Alright so I do my research and google up IM forums and here's my little summary about them:

Warriorforum - Fluff, hype, overselling, everything's an OTO and delusional circle of people selling BSOs to eachother. This is beyond me how ANYBODY wants to visit that forum. Like wtf.
Digitalpoint - Sorry I don't speak arabic.
Blackhatteam - Used to be the best till admin started cashing out on.. everything. Now it's like wannabe WaFo.
Bestblackhatforum - Tbh if I wanna download something for free - that's where I go. But the forum interface is just UNUSABLE - everything's a glittery spam - it's like designed by a 14 your old girl. Hate it.
Blackhatworld - Seriously overrated - the info is amateur directed and seems it's focused on everybody selling a service, I shit you not. Everything's a service - it's a forum for it-prositutes
Wickedfire - Inmature posters and silly restrictions on linking to shit and sharing shit but seems like it's the only place left worth of using. But the smilies are really lame.
Trafficplanet - Legit info, useful stuff but the community is TOO tryhard. Everyone trying to 'own' somebody but y'know it's like paraolympics over the internet. But the info is legit, but the forum is unusable because of the dicks.


tl;dr - Wickedfire is pretty badass and why the fuck all other forums are so bullshit - it's fucken frustrating.

Anyone else to review IM forums? :xomunch:

Summary: 4 post wonder starts his goodbye thread by flicking us all off, whines (like a 14 year old girl) and then calls us immature (but badass.)

I see a red brick road in your future, Dorothy. Then again if you're gonna asshole go full asshole or go home, amirite?

Ironically your post is a whine also. And whining about whining. Man it's like ... :eek:

Nah but essentially this isn't a goodbye thread - it's supposed to be a review of my experience of various IM forums, which all turned out to be quite crap. So thought I'd raise WF users' ego a little bit by saying this forum is pretty useable. I mean the design and interface is really slick.

(also no military activities in barracks on sundays whatsoever so I'm pretty much stuck to browsing forums whole day because the computers here are like from 2002 and can't do anything else with them. Facebook and forums. And FML)

Not worried - I look forward to entertainment. Wickedfire better live up to it's image(got some nice feedback from BHW threads about Wickedfire). I don't get butthurt easily as I'm essentially born in 4chan so I'm sure the old folks gonna try to tryhard and 'put the newcomer in it's place' but you know that's what the internet is today - a geeky hustle.

But hustle is my motivation

When you become a part of a community, it is not because of the content of the posts made - it is because of how well you connect with the members. Reading a couple of post and citing the userbase as immature, is pretty immature on your part IMO.

Also, every online community serves a purpose. It is home to a certain sect of people, with a certain mindset and certain set of dogmas with how they wish to carry themselves. There are boards for people looking buy and sell services for super low prices. There are boards for people who wish to lead with the GURU mentality and follow these GURUS as well. Then there are communities which allow people to stomp on other developer/designers livelihood, by allowing their work to be given away for free - basically warez variant of Templates/Scripts/IM Softwares.

Now these board admins may have had a passion for them. I won't deny that. But we cannot forget that the major running factor for them has been the monetization.

Wickedfire stands out apart because of the people behind it and the people participating in it. It stands out apart because Money was never a motivating factor for Jon. It stands out apart because right from its inception, a high barrier of entry was laid down towards new members. And more importantly, it stands out apart because of the fact that IT allows its users to be themselves out here - something a lot of people may perceive as IMMATURE.

The forum has some of the choicest developers onboard. We have some of the most brilliant marketers onboard too. And what's more important is the fact that these people are ALWAYS ready to help - which is a rare occurrence anywhere else. Knowledge nuggets are dropped freely, time and again.

Not to forget, the fact that we're all gay on our insides, helps.

I think you make a valid point BlogHue and I'm not disagreeing with any of these points but this is an internet marketing forum(as it advertises itself so) and what all internet marketing forums have in common is that the forumbase is to share and learn knowledge to make money in the end.

Internet marketing > making money.

We all have a common interest here but the population is so different.

And I don't get it how you guys even argue about not being immature(cough typo on first post) when you look at forum A and you see rules aka "not allowed to make porn references or swear" vs forum B that basically is surrounded by gay references and nude pictures. In a technology forum. That is a forum's maturity difference.

You know what I'm saying?

The pics are there for several reasons one of which is to scare off spies and looky loos that can't surf here from their corporate nazi cubicles because every other post has a dildo or titties in it. Oh and though pretty much everyone here is gay there is a quirky obsession with lady parts. Are you complaining about the boobs because then you will definitely get raped

Wait, wait hold on. I don't get it if people are gay then why they should be obsessed with lady parts? Aren't like, straight men obsessed with lady parts. And gays with.. well.. Yicky stuff.

And I most definitely don't complain about boobs - I think this could've easily been the reason I registered here(aside the fact that other forums are basically unusable due to either poor community or extremely crap design/interface)

On another thought I think you guys are misunderstanding my previous post for complaining - which it isn't - it's just a sample of proof why the forum is immature compared to some other places. Uh.

I like this whole "purposefully dense to make conversation" thing you've got going on. It ensures that each of your posts is a worthless paraphrasing of the post you are replying to, but morphing it into the form of a question. I bet you get punched in the face a lot.

Okay lets say that's the case then if the original content is actually a "worthless paraphrasing" then what does that make the other person replying?

I'd point out this is shooting the shit... and I seem to be pretty accurate.

Also no I don't get punched in face often. Also not an introduction. This was SUPPOSED to become into a legit discussion about ALL IM FORUMs but apparently some folks got butthurt and turned this thread offtopic with me in center of attention. Yeah probs going to regret.

If you are replying to a worthless paraphrasing with more worthless paraphrasing then that makes you as the replier a potato.

If I was you, I'd quit worrying about choosing a home community and start concerning myself with not being a hyper-judgemental fucktard and then maybe a community would choose me instead.

OP in a nutshell:

1. Attracted to IM by Sleazy Squeeze Page
2. Finds a Forum where he can steal the squeeze page
3. Calls self a pirate to alleviate cognitive dissonance of being a thief in the army
4. Upset that forum's good information goes paid and admin starts monetizing in other ways
5. Travels the intradets for other forums to get mad at.
6. Upset that on Sundays instead of playing Hello Army Island Adventure his only choice is to browse these shitty forums
7. Signs up on one and commits forum suicide immediately.
8. Go to Step 2 and repeat.

Ever heard of this little thing called Demographics? Demographics are variantly aligned, they have the same base profile (they are people) - but their likes, dislikes, knowledge level, financial status and atleast 2 million other data points vary. I don't know how you're still unable to fathom that?

You're walking a thin line of morality here - also moral policing = faggotry.

What law states that allowing porn on the boards in a technology forum is directly relevant to it's maturity status?

Your premise here is flawed. Wickedfire allows these because it one of the most legally sound communities. While, most other boards don't allow porn pics, because they're afraid of litigation. It is also because they don't want to go on to the wrong side of their beloved adsense. It has very little to do with their maturity level. Everyone has a dick or a vajajay brahh. And let's face, everyone has keandra.com running in one of their monitors all the time.

OP has both, which caused a huge self-esteem problem and led to vying for any form of power he/she could obtain. This led to signing up for the military so he could collect welfare while laying around in a tent on his bedroll while browsing the internet for free and bitching at it for not providing enough entertainment on the day of the lord. At least you are closer to all the opium.
