Bale is the stereotype crazed method actor. They all act that way when someone who does not take "their craft serious" fucks up their groove. I'm not suggesting
they all act the way Bale did, but they are all S E R I O U S.
Bale has a rep for being a raw method actor. Like De Niro in Raging Bull, Bale showed tremendous commitment to physical change in The Machinist, for example.
Peek inside the mind of these skilled actors and you'll find a similar persona..
Think Brando, Daniel Day Lewis, Paul Newman, Al Pacino, James Dean, De Niro.. the list goes on..
PS - I'm not bragging, but I've worked on many Hollywood sets, and seen a bit with my own eyes, albeit not too many of the truly greats.

He may be a serious actor, but you think that at some point during his training he could have gotten rid of that lisp. I mean, don't get me wrong, he was awesome in Batman and I'm sure will be great in Terminator and that other DCC movie - but i can't stand that deep, raspy lispy voice he uses for every action movie character.
