From a usability standpoint i feel ya, CL ain't what it used to be. But there are plenty of other ways to find apartments online, and can you really blame guys for utilizing a free source of very high volume and targeted traffic?

Have you seen what kind of payout you can get on a good MFA page doing this?
 


This has been going on for a while now, it's kinda shady but you can make some good money off it, I made about $800 the first week I tried this. I just felt bad and couldnt continue to fuck over people like that lol

coulda used a more trustworthy name at the end + a last name for an additional .0004343 increase in conversions

Geo-target them. Setup loads of different incoming e-mail addresses, and assign each e-mail to a city. Get a database of info on each city (coffee shop name, college name, etc.), and personalize the e-mail using those.

So you post to the Boston section using the Boston e-mail, then all incoming e-mails just hit a script. The script waits X minutes / hours, then sends off a reply personalized with the Boston info (eg. the house is close to [college_name], and if wanted, I can meet you at [coffee shop]).

Know I guy who pulled in $100k/month doing that with dating. That was before CL got so anal though.
