Does anyone have solutions for client reporting on various internet marketing services? We currently use excel spreadsheets and send them to our clients with complete reporting but id like some type of online system where the reports can be logged and possibly created online. Allowing the client to login and see this months report and previous reports would be nice too.

We've tried using basecamp as well , its an ehh solution for this.

Any novel ideas out there?

I'm always looking for something new to build.

Got an example report that you'd like to be able to make online? I'll take it to a few friends and see if they're interested in doing anything.

Thanks for the offer but i'm looking for some kind of prebuilt system or something i can repurpose into a reporting system. We do a lot fo different types of reports for all different types of marketing and i just dont want to build it from the ground up..

Yeah, so does a piece of paper and crayon. Except the crayon is prettier.

What specifically are you looking for bud? Bar charts, graphs, pie charts, what? Or just raw information.

raw info similar to excel but with a way we can catalog each months report, notify them when the report is ready, give them a login to see their history etc

For PPC, I keep meaning to test CampaignCoach, but as of yet I haven't gotten around to it. Maybe someone else can vouch for their quality.

It's fairly simple, too, to take your Excel sheets and have a much simpler Word document that pulls data from the spreadsheet to create a dumbed-down, more graphically-appealing version of the same information automatically. I like that approach because it keeps clients from thinking too much. The best client jobs are the ones that require almost no work to maintain, but those are also the ones where people tend to decide to try doing it on their own after a certain number of months. By not giving them raw data, I find it keeps the process more foreign to them and they buy management services for a considerably longer time. This doesn't really solve your automation/sharing problem, though.

Basecamp is ok, and I've played around with Project Pier, too, given that it saves a lot on Basecamp fees if you have many clients - but like you said...those solutions definitely aren't perfect.

Sounds like something Google Docs could handle easily if you don't mind them (Google) having your info. You could set the client up with a Google account if they don't already have one and share just their docs with their account.

they are way too stupid for this.

Damn! If they aren't using Google Docs for anything else, all of the info would be right in front of them as soon as they log into docs.google.com. Of course you can set it so they can only view the docs and not edit or make changes.

i found zoho reports today. Looks interesting but doesnt seem easy to automate adwords reports for instance.

You can upload a csv but the csv has to be cleaned up first and have ONLY the data you want to use.

sounds like you need custom stuff built out. a few g's to get something that can help you automate your business seems like a good investment. Let me know if you are doing SEO reporting, I think what we're launching with serpIQ could be handy for you for at least a portion of your stuff.

Rank Tracker generates some nice looking reports? If you're talking about links, well, my clients don't get link reports.
