Why are you recommending parts that are already close to 2 years old for a new build now that he wants to last for the next 5 years?

"I don't need the best of the best. Just something that is going to provide me with solid capability over the next 3-5 years. Looking to spend $800-1000."

I assume it has something to do with his needs and price range?

The rig I posted will have no problem keeping up in 3-5 years. The only part that will need to be upgraded is the graphics card. That's true of any build.

3-5 years down the road, does this still hold true? You can't tell a difference in daily driving between the i7 and i5 at all?
