So a few months ago I had a balance over at this embroidery shop. I got a bunch of shit along with these SEO hats. Lame, I know, but now I don't know what to do with them. One version is a black hat, and one is a white hat, and they will get you some poon when some hot chick at the bar goes, "So, what's an SEO?"

I figured why not give some away. Here are the contest rules. Post a black hat or white hat tip that will help people out here. And it can't be some free tip that's plastered all over the web. It has to be a nice little known nugget of information. I will give one away, your choice. The best tip between posts 1-20 will win one, and the best post between 21-40 will win one. Hopefully there's a decent tip between all the smart ass remarks that will be post.

This contest is not sponsored at all by WF and its founder or members. I'm doing it on my own free will. The white hat is actually white, and not ass yellow like the picture makes it out to be.

Blackhat Tip: Read WageRank

Whitehat Tip: Use DIRZAP: The Free Directory Submission Tool

Ok, ok. I'll stop the self promotion.

How about this one: don't listen to people who tell you that getting links from 'bad neighborhoods' can negatively effect your rankings. If they could, I would just get links to my competitors' sites from every bad neighborhood I can find.

It boils down to: You can't be penalized for off-page SEO.

GET AS MANY LINKS AS YOU CAN!!

I'm sure mine falls under the category of easy to find online but I'm no SEO Expert and I'll give it a shot.

Whitehat: Backlinks from off topic sites WONT bring down your search engine rankings but they WONT raise them either, Linking to non-relevant sites, including illegal sites such as Warez related sites WILL bring down your search engine rankings.

Google knows that you cannot control your in-bound links, so they won't give you a penalty for doing so but they know you can control your out-bound links and can give you a penalty for doing so.

BLACKHAT AHEAD

Spam the shit out of OpenSourceCMS - CMS Ratings
The place where you can test the control panel of alot of CMSs
How to do it:
Get Live HTTP headers for firefox. Log into each of these control panels, start with the one with highest ratio and go down, you might get tired.
And post someonething on the startpage, anything, javascript redirect, adsense ads + high paying keyword contnet, just alot of links, you name it.

Each time you post something, as in: log in to the control panel, post data etc, use Live HTTP Headers to save what you sent.

Now create a script in php or what you like best that posts this data that you collected with Live HTTP Headers. Set up a cron job that runs the script quite often. They refresh the CMSs every 2 hours I think.

I have not tried this but it's an idea I've had.

Any Blue hats by chance? haha j/king
Very cool barman! I'm all about the black hat :)
Simplest code to rank for any term in google images
<td>Keyword<br>
<p><img src="images/keyword.jpg" alt="keyword">
keyword</p>
</td>
Keyword in same table cell as image
keyword in alt tag
keyword in image name and image meta file summary
keyword in same paragraph as image

You forgot to include the advice on keyword stuffing and hidden text.

Is it wrong to include an h1 tag around the image tag when trying to rank the way shown here so instead of the above code it would look like this

<td>Keyword<br>
<p><h1><img src="images/keyword.jpg" alt="keyword" />
keyword</h1></p>
</td>

Anyone think that would help out a bit more, except I don't think its right programming practice to include h1 tags inside of a paragraph tag, little things like that are dumb.

P.S. You forgot to close your image tag />

i tried all sorts of combinations and variations with heading tags and google images and couldn't get a single verifiable result. Also, of the four factors I listed above, the alt tag seemed to have the small effect in its rankings. Perhaps they thought that would be the first place spammers would go.
