Well, for those of you that read the rules, I added a very important one.. you must have 50.. yes FIFTY threads started that have some type of good content that the community can benefit from. This does not include the Shoot the Shit area either. STS is for kicking back, not spreading the wealth of knowledge that's out there. One user, Dave, has posted some really good and helpful threads. Peach, although he is a huge postwhore, has also made some really good threads in other sections of the forum that have been very helpful and useful to the community as a whole..

Again, the reason for this contest was not to flood the crap out of this place, but to give people an incentive to post good material here so that we can keep a very good balance between useful and non-useful content spread over the entire site. That's just my take on it.

Although I'm a little dissapointed the rules keep changing I understand... but 50 threads? heh... thats quite abit. Dave and I only have 7 started threads outside of STS, Peach on the other hand has 30ish. But.. he was also like the first guy on here and got all the convo's started.

I personally think you should rethink the 50 thread number, that really is a ton of threads.

Also just makes me fear the fact that when I have 500+ posts and 50+ threads the rules will just change again.

Make rules and stand by them, dont change them because people get to them faster then planned. You made a great offer, a lot of people want it. Really going to turn people away by having them work so hard towards one thing and then change it to other... just like Donn. He has like 257 posts, but has not started ONE thread. He will probably be quite pissed that he spent all of last night working on that for nearly nothing.

*Edit* I might just try to get 30 people... because looking at other forums that I have like 15k+ posts on and I dont even have a solid 50 threads.

I'm very aware its not about winning. Its about supporting this website and helping it grow, which is just what we have been done. As many have said including Jon... this website has probably broke some records... 100+ members and 2000+ posts in 24 hours.

For those people who are trying to pull all nighters to win, they are missing the point of the contest. Even so, I'm not changing the rules, so there are no worries about them changing again. I had to make those two changes because I didn't expect people to abuse the original rules so quickly.

Like I said, 50 threads is not a lot, and they all don't have to be quality, but most of them do. And all of your posts will count, even the ones here. It's not as tough as you think it is, and there will always be ongoing contests here to participate in. Winning a 500 post count contest in under 24 hours is like being given a license to spam. There has to be some quality involved, otherwise it's just mindless crap.

I work 16 hour shifts with nearly nothing to do... I think that right there gives me the right to spam. But I think if you take the time to read a lot of what I've put on here.. its not spam. If I were really spamming I would already have like 3k+ posts... considering my time at work and how much I've been on the computer. 16 hours x 2 = 32 hours. 32 hours x 60 minutes in each hour is 1920 minutes. You can make 2 posts every minute.. thats 3840 posts in two days if you posted every minute. Thats a ton more than 500... you should just realize some people really do have the free time to do this... and we will do it when you offer such great prizes. I basically feel like I'm being punished because others dont have as much free time as me. :p Which is fine, I dont really mind, I have the time to do it... others might not and they might get mad that the rules changed. I still have no doubt that I will be in the Top 10. If you dont want the contests to end so fast we need to come up with ideas where people like me with tons of free time might not have the edge. Something more skilled based.

But I'm just curious about one more thing... you said the ones pulling the all nighters are missing the point of this?

Was the point not to get your website moving faster than a normal website. To get threads/posts (with good content and of course some without) going to get peoples attention and to bring as many of our friends here as we could?

No one said you were spamming. A lot of your posts are quality.

Thanks.. I didn't think anyone said I did. Was just kidding about the work for so long and spam thing.

I'm tryin my hardest to add good posts,But since i'm still new to this game i can't really offer any expert advice.

I just give unexpert advice. :) Best I can.

I resign.
I officially end any formal attempt to make this contest. I will still keep posting and reading this forum though.
i could keep trying to post but I think I should just keep working on my own sites instead. I could write/rewrite artcles, design sites, and the other things that I should really be doing.
This is a great site. Jon has really created a great place to learn and given some great advice. I think in the long run I'll be better off using that advice (like the niches) than just trying to keep posting.
Good luck to the rest of you and I'll still be around.

ohh this sounds like an awesome contest! im gonna try my best to either do this one or the new one!! think i might be able to do this one better hehe :D

No one is asking for expert advice. If you want to pretend to be an expert in everything, go post at SPF or WMW. Any input that can help people or give an interesting insight is all you need. Even I'm not an expert, in spite of what the majority may think or say.

quit being humble Jon, you own that shit man! :)

I swear I'm not an expert.. I may have mastered some things, but I'm not an expert on it. For search engines I would say an expert is Danny Sulivan. For seo, I'd say Aaron Wall, etc.

Yes, but you're an expert in the most important of all areas, "tying it all together to actually make a shitload of money" ;)

HAHA Love your quote..so I quoted you..

But yeah, Jon, Let me tell you this story...

Back 2 months ago, I said fuck this small time website shit, and I started actually outsourcing shit, getting shit done, pulling tons of websites projects, custom myspace programs, hella fucking shit. Then I started spending X,XXX on google adwords trying different lead things, this and that, stuff that I knew paid but just needed trafic, FINALLY, about a month ago, I started making a profit from some CJ programs, right now it is pretty much only big when I get a huge sale ( luck) but otherwise its about even, spending 100 a day making 80-100 a day, just getting lucky sometimes with huge sales that turn it into profit in the end...Anyways,...I saw your CJ post about $83,000 in a month, and THAT right there, it fucking changed my life and outlook on life man...Like, as of that day, I said to myself that this CAN be a life goal and it CAN be a dream and it IS accomplishable. I decided right then and there never to work a 9-5 again in my life. My income will be 100% on my own, and for right now, I think a HUGE portion will be on the web, and with your guidance I hope I can aspire to my heights.

Thats all for now :) Hope you read this Jon

Congratulations on making it certain you get a stack of posts and traffic for the forums.

Good luck, you about to make sure there are a shit load of pointless useless posts. Hope you have the moderators to sift it all.

Good luck everyone.
