Conversion rate

I am testing a campaign using direct linking on MSN, Yahoo and Google. The payout is $15. MSN and Yahoo don't have enough clicks to make any judgements yet, but Google has:

203 clicks
.63% CTR
1% conversion to sales

At an avg. $.38 CPC it's not profitable. Do you guys think the conversion rate warrants trying to work it harder, or develop a landing page and seeing how that does?

you make $30 - you spent $77

At least you got 2 conversions. I think its worth tweaking into profitability assuming there is opportunity to scale.

Also try an LP, it could make all the difference.
 
You can't really judge after only 2 conversions. Sometimes you'll get 0 conversions on the first day and 5 on the next... So keep it running for a few days and try to improve it after that.

PS: acceptable click through? Anything that's profitable heh
 
Why don't you create a simple lander and 301 the links? I would test this to see if it works better for you than direct linking.

Yah, I'm gonna spin up a landing page and see how it does. I'm using DevHub (free hosting and it's fairly easy to use) and you can't do redirects on their system, so we'll see how the affiliate links work.

No you dont need a lander for a $15 payout unless hes doing grants, but even then you wont need a LP you would need a simple jump page. Im pretty sure your doing dating then. But $15 payout, honestly you wont need a lander because not even 50% of people who go to your site will go to the sales page, so either way you wont profit on a $15 payout.

Right, that's my concern too -- $15 payout is going to be very hard to turn a profit on. Not dating or grants :) More of a biz travel service.
 
$15 is a workable payout. The better your CTR is, the lower your CPC will be. So at this point you really need to put yourself in the searchers shoes and write an ad that speaks to them and their current mindset. Ads are key. Study up on copywriting if you have to.

You can write an ad that gets the best CTR ever, but if it doesn't naturally urge people to convert, then its just a money drain. Kind of a balance there you gotta keep.

And build an lp that presells the offer. The clicks you get from your lander to the offer should convert good if youre getting conversions direct linking. At that point, measure your EPC so you know how much you can spend per click, and work on raising the CTR to the offer from the lander.

give it some more time...you can't make a decision off of $77 or whatever you've spent. change your ads, and give it at least $200 then evaluate.

your right im not being helpful because im only telling him to get out of a niche which has minimal profit in it on ppc. How do I know, because I tested it myself.
