I am from Germany and in this country you must provide a correct invoice for each order.

I bought many things on wickedfire but nobody deliver a correct invoice. Is this not necessary in USA or other non european countries?

Ok, I am from Austria so same deal here. You won't get an invoice from any of these providers cause they are freelancing and don't have there own company. A private person is only allowed to earn about 250 Euros a year in Germany/Austria. If he earns more he has to pay taxes for it but ofcourse only in the case that he gives you an invoice xD

I provide invoices on request, otherwise I just send the link to my payment page.
Make sure to ask if invoice can be provided before you start to work with your service provider and he might be able to go out of his way to send it.

Most people never ask for invoices so there is no point to send them for the most part. I think most people would provide you with one if you requested one though, I always have.

To my knowledge, in some other countries including the US, a transaction itself can be an "invoice" and requires no further proof. In the EU, you have to verify transactions with an actual invoice that contains the supplier's and receiver's details etc.

So if no invoice is available, you can create a reverse invoice for them. Look at how Google Ireland (EU hq) is handling Adsense payments. It's called "Gutschrift" in DE - not sure about AU - you're issuing it, but the supplying and receiving parties are reversed.

I'm not a tax adviser though, so you should probably consult one.

I got my first request for an invoice a few hours ago.

I took my 5 minute to find a good template that I decided to use.

not hard at all.

"I recieved your payment but how to send a pdf invoice?,lol,i used to do the invoice in this way only."

That are the standard answers which I get when I ask for an correct pdf invoice.

Talk to your accountant, mine told me that if it's not possible to get an invoice in certain situations it shouldn't be a big problem.

no, in some countries you do, nothing to do with being in the EU.

the UK is much the same as the USA in this respect

Send them an Example "correct" invoice and they will word/photoshop you one probably.

If not our source Photoshoping "correct" invoices.

And if you want it legal pass the payment trough the supplier (his worker/work) :P

Seriously Make a detailed request with what you need and you will probably get most of the time - Don't expect every one to know what is "correct" for you.

For me I asked the accountant, if the invoice is local it has to fallow some rules, if it's international he said he only cares to have the word "invoice" or similar version and it's OK.
So "Correct" for me and for you are not the same.

Just get one request template that works and you'll be OK.

And if not, do your math:
Expensive deductible or cheap undeductible .

Ive heard about these German laws. I once had a client that needed an invoice for almost everything. Never did understand the laws up there but they sure as hell seem like sticklers for finances.
