CPA Lead Cracks Down

This doesn't surprise me. PPV networks are in the spotlight because they are the "next big thing" now and whenever that happens they try to grow fast by accepting whatever traffic they can get at first. Then, when they are large enough, they start cracking down to "improve quality" and try to go legit.

Happened with Google, happened with Facebook, happened with every fucking big media company out there.

It's a long December and there's reason to believe maybe this year will be better than the last.

It happened with Google and Facebook because they offer value and legitimate services to users (for google - it's a search service among other things and facebook is social networking) and both of those companies are now worth tens of billions of dollars. The reputation and value they'd lose by letting affiliates run on their platform far exceeds than whatever money they'd make collectively from affiliates.

This won't ever happen with PPV networks because they offer no real value to consumers except pop up remotely relevant ads on users' computers without their permission. Also, I don't think any of these PPV network will be worth billions of dollars because they really don't have any established "brands." Hence, it'd be best for them to allow affiliates since affiliates make them so much money without causing them any short term or long term problems.
