So been on the country side again hitting the track hard, decided to go out in the mountains to burma with some friends.

So riding fairly fast downhill on the way back on roads of clay, back wheel started to skid out to the right and I put oout my left leg to balance it up. So after skidding sideways for a good 10 meter (about 11 yards) so do I hear a pop in my knee and the legs just giva away and the bike hits the ground and skids a good 3m and I sit over the bik with right leg and see my left leg just lying out in a relly wonky way. Panic mode sets in and throw myself back and pull my leg up and I here it po back in...

Lying there screaming like and asian 10 year old school boy so does m friends double back and find me. After one of them hit the road back to go meet up with a car so does some thai guys come in their 4 wd pick up like a sent from the gods and pick me up and drive me to the jungle hopstital.

Got some x rays done and verified that nothing was broken and got a pair of crutches for a midget(I'm 190 cm 6,4 f) s am I know in bed..

So have anyone here tore a ligament in their knee? Do I have a long recover?

-M

xrays aint gonna show a torn ligament most likely. if you can get an MRI done it will tell you a lot more.

torn ACL = out for several months

knee injuries are bad news and will likely bother you for a long time :/

Depends. You having surgery? How old are you?

30 years Will see me orthopedic surgeon tomorrow... Wil see him shake his head.

If I think ACL means what I mean so do I have it, absolutely NO stability sideways...

knee is bad. all the shit down there heals slowly and the chances for injuring it again increase drastically. you shouldnt be able to make an assessment about stability. dont walk. and get them to fly you out to europe or america. if youve got money, munich has some good sports injury doctors. dont let some thai doctor patch your knee up.

Sorry to hear about your injury, but thanks for converting all the measurements into American though.

every time I use metric system so will there be an American saying DOHH!!!

I blew out my ACL, LCL, and ripped a tendon playing soccer just over 6 months ago. It took 2 separate surgeries, my leg was non weight bearing and immobilized for the first month plus I had rehab.

If I'm not doing anything it doesn't hurt anymore, but doing the stairs are tough. If I go to the park or coach soccer now, I'm hurting for 3-4 days.

I've probably got another 6 months until I'm healed as much as I will be.

Best advice is do the rehab and get yourself set mentally for a long recovery. You'll get there, but it takes time.

I knew a guy who tore a ligament in his knee, had to wear some black cast for 10 months? heard he tore it from Tennis and it looked really bad, I wish you a speedy recovery Op.

I would bet $100.00 that you tore your ACL. The "pop" that you heard is typical of that injury.

You will need reconstructive surgery, and I'm not gonna lie..it sucks. The recovery is long and painful. At least it was for me. Most important thing is to take your rehab very seriously.

Ask for a CPM machine and an ice cooling sleeve (not sure what its called)

This ^^ Do your Physio religously and keep doing it whether you feel like it or not, otherwise you'll regret it for the rest of your life.

I suffered various knee injuries when i was younger, and i didn't take the physio too seriously as my knee felt fine at the time.... very bad mistake on my part.

I'm now 32 and my knee is fucked beyond repair.

That sucks man. I tore my ACL playing Rugby, so I feel your pain. A torn ligament is probably the most confusing, painful and most traumatic experiences ever. In my case, I was just running and tried to cut back in. I never got tackled or anything, but fuck when it tore, I fucking screamed like a little girl. I never did surgery until 6 months later. You can actually go on fine without your ACL once you don't play any sports. The recovery process for that was about a month I think, maybe 2. I didn't use crutches though, I ain't no bitch. As for when I got surgery, It was 6 month recovery. I stupidly screwed up my knee again though, trying to play soccer. $30k wasted..... Now I can only do sports like golf...fuck...Anyways if you are seriously considering getting a surgery, let me know bra.
