CTR Experiment

I'm not going to get into another conflict with you. I told you earlier, if you have any problems, then please PM me. There is no reason to post non-relevant links on all my threads.

Don't really see how it's dumb. Am I somewhat gaming the system? Yes I am. Either way, Google still makes their promised amount off me.

Please read all my responses on that thread. Please notice how my first three responses were either saractic replies or made for humor.

Yes, thank you for the ad. Though, that wasn't the reason for the creation of this thread. The reason why I made this thread was to show other affiliates my results when it came to gaming my CTR with concrete numbers.

That's good to hear. I'm also about to revert to this on all my current campaigns. Typically I align myself in the first three positions on the right side. Now I want to get all my AD's above the orangic results.

Yes, even better CRT over organic, and 'authority' when there. I myself find myself clicking the listing above organic thinking they are organic results, and I am not on to click ads. Lul.

I catch myself doing the same thing. I barely ever find myself clicking on the side AD's. But I do click on the AD's above the fold a lot. Probably like 25% of my searches.

bounce rate doesnt affect this...? Your four workers werent camped out on the LP I assume, so I would think bounce would affect your rankings....or not?

Apparently it didn't. As far as I know, Google can only track the bounce rate if you have their analytic installed on your landing page.

Not quite, they can track it if the user hits the back button and goes back to google as well and they may be able to track it if the user has a google toolbar installed

Oh, didn't know that they track of the back button. Though, in my case; it didn't seem to have much of an affect.

Oh Google. I'm sure they track everything. I wouldn't be surprised if they knew the names of all the people who search. xD

For those who think you need to pull shit like this to get the upper hand, you're absolutely wrong. An easier and legit way (the way the system is designed) is to simply up your bids close to or above #1-3 estimates. If your ad is worthy and performs well, Google will naturally reward you with higher positions for lower cpc's. Even if you don't exceed the estimated bids to begin with, Googles system tests and rotates ads to different positions -- they're in business to make more money too, so naturally, ads get placed in positions where they get the most clicks.

Agree with Spades. I know ROIShare said this just an experiment but in reality, you can achieve the same results by just bidding high right off the bat, you can get your cpc down with the same amount spent.

Yes, I guess you could go down "Spades" path, but it requires more tweaking time. In my case, I could have placed monkeys in front of the screen; and they could have gotten my site to the first position.

And volknet, I purchase VPN accounts from online sites for the IP's. Also, I wouldn't do it through proxy.org. 95% of the proxies there will easily give out a proxy server in Google's logs. So Google may catch you sooner or later after you try this several times. If you do it via VPN's and SOCKS; they don't give out a proxy server sign, plus their much quicker. I typically purchase 1,000 VPN's monthly for a cost of $10/month for each. Since I give them to my others on worth that gets outsourced.
For you, your best bet would be to buy SOCKS. You can easily get each for about 75 cents each. They last for about 3-5 hours. So you should be able to get the job done in time with a reasonable amount paid.

200 * 0.75 (socks) = 150+
200 * 0.50 (clicks) = 100
total $250

against

200 * 1.50 (clicks) = $300

maths works out.

but i think if i factor in setup time i'd rather bid higher for a day than save the $50 and not risk my account.

good case study though :)
