So my wife I guess caught onto the riots in London, and asked me if that was going to happen here.

It was an easy answer because it's happened before. We lived through the Rodney King riots and even here in Delaware I remember it reaching my school.

I then got to live through the 90's as a young adult and made a lot of money doing jobs that pay about a third of what I made 20 years now.

*I made about 50k working in a retail environment at one point for example - now those guys make 8 to 10 bucks an hour*

So it got me thinking about what's REALLY in our future. I've got my idea what's yours?

*MINE*

I think inflation is going to hit very hard soon. I've already noticed a pretty big increase this year in food costs, and we all know what the higher gas prices are doing to average folks.

I think that while that inflation is happening people who are underemployed or unemployed are going to get REALLY desperate.

Throw in a disaster or two like Katrina or another terrorist attack and I do think shit could hit the fan with riots.... or even revolution.

Our congress really hasn't done shit in the last year, tons of appointments not made, trade treaties not approved, etc... The executive branch is piling on more regulations, etc...

So when you are paying 5 bucks for a loaf of bread, and 5 bucks a gallon to go out and look for work that no one is hiring for - why the hell not riot :)

If there's any real kind of depression then those living in big cities will have much more to worry about than occasional riots.

I think you've pretty much nailed it.

I don't see anything getting better anytime soon. Historically speaking when countries get into situations like we are in they always hyperinflate. I think we will too. When people on fixed incomes can't pay for food they are going to get pissed. Shit will get bad. If people riot when a sports team loses a game they will definitely riot when their bellies aren't full. But who knows, maybe somehow America will find a way. I don't see how and am betting against it heavily.

There is more to this though. I think what is really going to happen is the foreign bankers are going to get as much control of America as they can through this depression that they have created. Since 1776 they have been trying to crush America and they have slowly been succeeding. These people want to control the world. They already do to a large degree but they want more control. And America, with its Constitution and smart people, was a problem for them. That problem is just about remedied now. In my opinion we are heading into a world of shallow, dumb, immoral people who only really give a shit about surface things like consumption, sex, 9-5s, sports, beer and anything else that will keep them from evolving into something smarter and better. We are entering a new way of living. We are entering a way of life with less freedom. We may have more technology. We may have cool shit. But it will be a police state. Everything will be monitored. Everything will be tracked. We are already pretty much there. We used to not have to pay income tax. We used to be allowed to buy things with gold and silver. We used to be not have to participate in socialism. This is changing. We are now heading into an illogical and failing model for society that was invented by the foreign bankers and championed by emotional, ill-informed, unread, egotistical, apathetic sheeple.

That is how I see it anyway.

What a ridiculous generalization. The situation we are in now is comparable to the Great Depression, but it isn't even close in terms of magnitude. And the Great Depression was NOT hyperinflation. Examples of hyperinflation: Germany 1923 (4,200,000,000,000 Marks to 1 Dollar), 1975-1991 (One (1) 1992 Peso = 100,000,000,000 pre-1983 Pesos). What we are facing now is not hyperinflation. It is not even close.

That said, you make some good points. This is not just about the economy. A bad economy is not what causes rioting and middle class uprising. That is caused by political instability or dissatisfaction (see: Egypt, Libya, Syria, Azerbaijan). You can see this dissatisfaction emerging in the UK. But for now the rioting has not spread far beyond misdirected lower-class opportunists looking to wreak havoc and make a buck.

Still, you can see the fabric of Western democracy is starting to tear. Look at Wisconsin, the News of the World scandal, and the debt crisis: people do not trust their governments. Over 80% of Americans distrust their government - that is the highest level of distrust in 50 years. With that alone, you have a prerequisite for unrest.

Now will anything come of this? Probably not for a while. We may distrust the government, but we already give them a lot of leeway. It is going to take multiple ridiculous injustices piled on top of each other to start something in the US. I don't really foresee that happening in the near future. It's a lot more likely that tensions are going to keep building in the Middle East (Israel and Iran for example) leading to a shit show of such epic proportions that the West cannot run away from it.

(can't believe I just argued on the internet)

BUT WE HAVEZ TEH FACBOOK NOW> LOOLLLLLLZ

Bread and circuses. Bread and Circuses.

That's true - the REAL problem is when people can't afford the cable bill - oh snap it's on then :)

All i know AMERICA IS FUCKD under Obama.

Well, the economy has worsen under the Obama administration but we should not put the blame on him alone. Perhaps the administration should move their focus on economy today. Not on chit chat wars in different country.

Top billionaires should help in a way to improve the economy. They should not prey more on this failing situation.

I was gonna reply to this thread but I'm too busy propping my feet up on this crate of 6000 rounds of ammo sitting under my desk.

Man, he's not the one to blame even he's ain't the only matter of blame..too much hands relied on this problems and tons of invisible hands, have done occurrence pretty damn significant. Obama stood the big picture tho those house are behind him, and those invisible worker lol. Guess be prepared for it worst then wishes for luck. This inflation might not take us down!

Zero chance there will be riots in the US like they had in the UK. Did you see the UK cops during those riots? They were confused, scared shitless, weren't armed properly, and didn't even have guns!

If shit like that breaks out in the US, you can expect the cops to handle things quite a bit differently, and the riot will be over before it even starts.

Yeah, what he said!

...wait...I didn't understand one damn sentence in that paragraph. Are you using the worlds worst translation software or are you just an xrumer bot. Either way, let's get it together already.

Despite all of the economic problems we have in this country, I do think our citizens are just fucking retarded. Everyone I know who is having hard luck right now is self-entitled. They deserve luxury (although they won't call it "luxury"). They still go out to eat on occasion, they still buy shit they don't need, they still indulge, etc.

On the one hand, you can complain about gas prices rising slightly, wages going down, and so on. But if you're a wasteful spender and you live lavishly (relative to most people on the planet, in fact), you're a dumb fuck and don't deserve to complain about economic hardship.

That's most Americans for you.

Do I think riots can happen here? Sure. Like I said, people are fucking retards. Thank FSM for internet monies.

You know - the more I think about this the more I disagree with you. For example Philly just had to enact bed times for teens :)

Let's play the downward spiral of our financial mess a year or two in the future. China, Japan, England, and Canada says "f-this" and stops buying our treasuries. Those treasuries are what pays the day to day shit right?

What happens when no one buys them anymore?

We print MASSIVE amounts of money = hyperinflation... when you have a pocket full of money and can't feed your family people are gonna go ape shit.

It's not like salaries will go up either - we've seen a downward spiral for a couple decades now in income.

But my guess is that would be the wake up call for deep shit. Banks and markets being forced to stay closed to stop a run on the dollar. Federal (soon followed by state) services being closed over night, no more food stamps or whatever it's called anymore.

Unless you've got a basement of stocked food = you screwed.

It could go another way too. Let's just say we don't have enough gas. It's happened before.

Trucks stop running = 3 days later nothing in the stores.

To say it won't happen here (when it is on a minor scale with flash mobs) is just sticking your head in the sand.
