I put an article on digg today and it got 934 diggs (or duggs whatever the fuck they are called) which is quite a lot. It got to the top of digg problem is that hostgator took down all mysites due to over server usage. I have lost out on loads of income, pretty pissed off and to top it all off hostgator will be trying to get me to upgrade my accounts. What would you do? Is there a way around a temporary spike in traffic?

Its annoying becuase I am losing money due to all my sites being down and I will probably have to upgrade in the longer term costing me more money.

Time for a dedicated server methinks.
yeah I hardly ever use space/bandwidth this is a one off I guess. I use normally about 2gig space and about 3 or 4 gig bandwidth which is fuckall really.

I've been seeing a lot of bad things about hostgator lately. Is this the first time?
I understand there position as I crashed a shared server but they could respond a lot faster. They are very good value. I might get a dedicated but go to theplanet.com as I have heard a lot of good things about them (also hostg rents from them so its cutting out the middle man)

Not only a dedicated server, but a pretty nice dedicated server! haha

Shared hosting is not going to survive digg no matter who you use.
