Digital signage.

You could have a flash movie/presentation made, host it on a web page locally on your network, run it in a loop and point the monitor to that web page. At least it would be free (no monthly fees).

I don't get the business model of ScreenScape. Or rather, it doesn't seem to make sense. Wouldn't it be more effective for the advertiser to go directly to the venue?

What ^ LotsOfZeros said ^

I've been sorta looking into this myself as a brick and mortar. Has anyone looked into this as a business? Sorry for the hijack but would love to hear anyone's input on this.

Nice suggestions so far. The flash thing is a definite possibility. Is it possible to include real time widgets and information within a flash video. For instance a weather widget and rss feed all updating real time.

Technically it doesn't even have to be flash. It could be a webpage that auto refreshes to a new page every 2 minutes. And that put that inside of a iframe, and then so when you're done you'll have a main page; index.html or something, with the widgets at the top of the page and an iframe which takes up the rest of the page (and the iframe is a frame of a page that auto refreshes every two minutes, or is flash, or w/e).
Then just f+11 the whole browser. it's pretty easy, don't be a dumbass (if u don't know html than I forgive u)

We have 4 or 5 devices like this. You can drop video files, photos or whatever onto a flash drive, plug the flash drive in and set it to loop all videos. You don't have to tie up a computer or use any network bandwidth. They work pretty wel, just remember if you have more than one you have to hold the remote right up against the one you want to change or you will change all of them.

@David that's an obvious possibility. However I'm simply not looking to reinvent the wheel. If there is something out there that already does this and does it nicely I'm not going to take the time to create my own.
