This site has essentially mastered making titles that people click on, and I believe that is the crux of what has made the site popular. As for the content, most of it is stuff I've seen elsewhere, but the titles make me want to see it again.

In just over 3 months this site has jumped in Alexa from <100k to now being ranked at 1,405 globally.

Damn man, Distractify is the perfect brand name. Since glimpsing the site, I've been distracted from work, clicking away. Really tempting titles.

Huh, never even heard of these places before. The sites look simple, the content is alright but scraped and rewritten for the most part, yet they're extremely popular. A true inspiration!

Yes, a true inspiration for creating mind-numbing mediocrity!

Just like mgid...
There are a few more like these, but I've not seen ads/monetization on these sites, how do they make money?

It might not have occurred to you in a while, but there are people out there who do things because they are fun, or they mean something to them and some of these people don't care too much about the money it might make them.

mgid makes money by selling ads, obviously. mgid is an advertising network.

Viralnova does 6 figs/month with adsense. distractify is good too, though viralnova does better in terms of traffic and earnings. distractify is better at branding.

You can use these sites like viralnova to make some fast cash, then invest in creating a brand like buzzfeed.

At first I was like 'oh, not on wickedfire' but then I realized not many are capable of doing it (as easy as it seems).

It's actually an awesome display of marketing. Their titles are awesome, and that gets them read and shared. They're sharing the same product (the content that's on hundreds of other websites) but using marketing alone are generating tons more awareness & revenue.

Take what they do and apply it to new, specific markets, and see what happens. There's tons of money to be made pretty much by writing good headlines right now.

Just noticed one their titles doesn't even make sense:

"These Incredible Photos Of Saturn's Rings Will Change The You See The Mysterious Planet!"
