Distractify.com and the art of eye catching titles

I know you said you'll focus on getting it out there, but you really need some work on your titles still.

Also, pages like /22-hilarious-pics-of-dogs-caught-mid-sneeze/: first of all, make the actual URL shorter (like keywords only) - that way, you can split test the headline later on without it looking weird.

Second, don't make me click "next" or the pagination up top to get to the other images. Takes too long and is too much trouble. Buzzfeed etc. have them all on one page too. Make people scroll instead, that'll also make the whole page more share friendly.

If the pages becomes too big, maybe split them up instead with different angles, and market them respectively

I just bought a one-word domain in a sub-topic in this niche. I think the same broad content is showing up at too many sites, and it's probably better to drill down a little.

I like this kind of site for honing headline writing skillz, and I will be able to see which headlines get the most clicks. Google can throw me a few pennies; the Adsense will be added asap.

What an amateur.

Thanks for noticing.

Anyway, I did take some of your advice, and created a non-image based share button, and changed the bottom ad to a 300x250. Things do look a lot cleaner.

I am not convinced however that taking out the share button on top is such a good idea.

And as for my image paging...my average pageviews for the past 2 days is 12/visit. That speaks for itself.

Part of what makes the site is the team that is behind it.

Sure, success comes to the "individual" on the internet as frequently touted in the media. However, with all the automation, programming and slave labor you can muster together, you can't scrape, code or outsource the synergy and effectiveness of a cohesive team with joined interests working towards a common cause or specific goal.

Few people it seems had aha moments in this thread and ran to go make similar sites. That's fine and dandy one could suppose. However, this site is just the latest to get attention much like Lifed.com did before it and all the sites that gamed Digg back in the day (great images + catchy titles).

However, the outcome of these endeavors might far better if some of you worked together and formed brand-able web properties worthy of investment or acquisition, instead of going all Pinky and the Brain / Wolfpack of One into your own personal dungeons to make niche sites to pluck low hanging fruit. Just saying though.

Here are a few threads from our great resource that is WickedFire to help those who need with their copy, sales and persuasive marketing efforts. Enjoy.

That was seriously funny.

Anyways, here are 8 days of stats. It feels like the traffic is building up gradually.
