80% Skype... 20% Trillian (to include, AIM, Yahoo, GTalk, and MSN)

Only chatting though... But, it seems to me that a lot of my writers use only Skype, I am not sure if that is a country specific thing or just the preferred method of chat.

Adult still uses ICQ alot
I just started using Skype again after maybe 6 years, remembered my account details
Phone is always good, email when they want instructions on how to do something so they have it written down.

Small tip that some people might not know about Skype:

Start skype normally to log in to your personal account.
Then while it's running, you can start another instance of Skype via a shortcut with the target:
"C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /secondary

This allows you to log into another account (Eg. for your business communications) simultaneously without having to change between the two accounts all the time.

Maybe this is common knowledge, but I didn't know about it ages, and it really helped me to keep business and personal usage separate.

Another tip that helped me was, in the profile where it says 'add video or write message here for your friends to see', I put 'please chat before calling'. They'll see that next to your name in their contact list, and it cuts down the number of unwanted voice calls.

Here's what I don't get though. Skype is probably the biggest business chat client world wide right? but no fucking spell check. Drives me insane.

Sometimes I utilize Skype but in most instances, I'm not usually on and therefore really don't prefer it. I'll get on though if someone tells me to hop on and chat, of course.

Skype's awesome though, love their chat system.

I only do a few business via Skype, the majority is via email.

I still think that doing business via Skype is somewhat ... unprofessional. With email i can confirm who they are (is the site they claim to be owner real). Also, i have more than a bunch of clients, so Skype is not a viable solution. Email makes my life easier (well, i only have to reply to about 20 emails a day instead of chatting with 20 people).

I normally have AIM on 24/7 and use it as my main way to talk to people, but I do use Skype as well when people need to talk.

Definitely makes communication easier, although I don't leave it running. Usually jump on by request only.

yep skype for everything..i'm online all day, and made some great business contacts with it...it can be distracting because i use it for personal too but it's probably 90% business and 10% personal

I didn't use skype for the longest, but quickly realized that most IMers use it so I eventually started using it.

skype is good, it's helpful to actually talk to people. It helps build better rapport and 'feel' someone out - whether they're a good person or not
