Do You Even Fast?

If you're going to fast, and deprive your body of all the vitamins/minerals it needs to function in this fucked up world we live in, then I sure hope you live in a super clean environment like on top of a fucking mountain or something like that, because if you live in the city:

1) You're breathing shit. (carcinogens from cars, CO2, bacteria, pollution, etc...)

2) You're drinking water that contains shit. (all types of chemicals that I need a whole book to write about)

3) You're stressed out more than you should be.

4) You're looking at a screen (TV/Computer) more than you should be which exposes you to more carcinogens.

and more shit like that... you get the idea?

All of the above make your body crave vitamins and nutrients to repair itself and fight threats. It's definitely not the right setup to be fasting for long periods of time.

If you want to fast, go on a Vipassana retreat in the Himalayas or something, drink spring water, get away from all the harmful shit that modern society is throwing at you.

We have to make do where we are. While I agree with your general sentiment, I think you are being fear mongering and disregarding the resiliency of the body.

no read thread, no watch video, but have fasted for far longer than 20 hours or even 5 days. Do so periodically... filled with veggie and fruit nuts my house is, on my way to the gym after posting this....will probably fast when season changes....vooodoooo crazy. vitamix and celery sticks. good thing there are a few health and vitamin sites in the portfolio...otherwise there'd be no excuse

In fact you're doing the opposite. Here's a rundown of the negative stuff you're exposed to daily:

1) You're breathing shit. (carcinogens from vehicles, airborne bacteria, pollution, etc...)

2) You're drinking water that contains shit. (all types of chemicals that I need a whole book to write about)

3) You're stressed out more than you should be.

4) You're looking at a screen (TV/Computer) more than you should be which exposes you to more carcinogens.

5) Cell phone and radio waves are going through your brain daily.

Apart from some generalizations here and there, do you have evidence to support claims such as cell phone and radio waves causing your body to crave vitamins and nutrients in a way that is not sustainable if you fast intermittently?

Because the health benefits suggested by fasting in Eat Stop Eat by Pilon is backed by studies and evidence, and while I can't be positive, I'm pretty sure its target demographic isn't residents of the Himalayas.

I fast during FEB March and April after eating tons and lifting heavy all winter. It works you can grate cheese on my abs and hang several supermodels on each of my biceps.

Started yesterday night, so far so good.. I'm sure some days will be worse than others but ya, not hungry at all. Will be done at 6pm tonight.

Clearly didn't watch video or read 20 hours/day limit

I personally do 18/6, but I do find it hard to actually eat enough calories in the eating window, which is good/bad depending on why you're doing it. Some times have to force it down which doesnt feel right, but the results speak for themselves, and I feel so much better when doing it.

I did a strict 25 day water fast for the supposed health benefits, it didn't seem to do shit but make me weak and extremely emotional (which is strange cuz I'm usually pretty apathetic)
