Really interesting data... this will help a lot of people if they study and apply the results.

This.

Was interesting to see how the appeal message blew away all other options across all languages.

jimmy's appeal with his face shown on banner = WIN. nice data there, also check out the those banner variations under updates

Nice find.

It's crazy that there's sucha a difference (on the 28th) between WMFJA1/en - Wikimedia Foundation (highest)

and

Appeal25/en - Wikimedia Foundation (lowest)

but you can certainly understand why with your 20/20 hindsight.

edit: and yeah jimmy's 10% is insane. Makes sense. I think I may take this info to a client of mine who also has an honest appealing looking face.

edit2: although it could just be because none of us are used to seeing that banner so it might not have mattered who it was. i know i clicked on it yesterday (before seeing this thread) but didn't donate (doh!)

I can't believe banners with that fucking tool jimmy wales converted the highest. They're probably hard up for money because that idiot used to run around the country socializing on the foundation's dime.

Here's another one:

Admit it: without Wikipedia, you never could have finished that report.

hahahahaha. I'll show that to my wife. She's a college professor, and if she finds her students using ANYthing from Wikipedia in a report, she writes "WIKIPEDIA IS NOT A RELIABLE SOURCE. DO SOME REAL RESEARCH." on it and grades it an F.
