Don't Buy A Mac? Wow.

3k on a PC is an absolute beast machine that should last you for a really long time.

the argument that 'macs don't get viruses' just shows incompetence with computers. if you had a clue how to use your computer and be safe with it in the first place, you wouldn't get viruses anyway. While i'm not a complete mac hater and think they are cool (although massively overpriced), mac "fans" are generally fucking idiots. macs are pretty much computers designed for retards.

which actually isn't that bad of an idea. but still.
 


The problem is you guys are trying to compare a Mac Pro to a home computer. As previously mentioned, it's a workstation. The reason it has ECC ram instead of regular, when it's actually slower for some operations? Because of the type of work it is used for. The reason you can buy it with multiple video cards? It isn't for SLI, it's for running more monitors.

If you buy a mac pro to game, you're a retard. But by the same token, comparing it to a gaming machine is retarded.
 
I use to buy non-apple laptops and install Linux on them. I've ran Linux as my primary OS since the mid 90s and I hated duel booting windows to play games and what I hated most was breaking the power adaptor off of the motherboard. Maybe I'm just hard on them who knows, but soldering it back on to the motherboard is a bitch. I found myself replacing laptops, because of that once every year to year and a half.


Apple laptops on the other hand have their power adaptor held on by a magnet. Therefor there's no internal breakage. This laptop I'm on now is my first apple laptop and has already lasted me longer than any non-apple laptop I've ever had. Oh and the games I like to play have native OS X clients.

In many times.. yeah. In cheaper laptops and PCs, cheaper OEM ram made in China is used. Most of Mac hardware is brand name and reliable. Yeah, I know that there's a premium, but you are also paying for the build quality, and the knowledge that the parts inside the Mac play well with the rest of the hardware (build order). It's also the little things. I hate PC laptops that are made of plastic shoddy parts that all come apart and fall out, and aesthetics mean a lot to some people.

I have parts of a rootkit for OS X on my laptop right now. I'll have it finished eventually, but it currently DOES work just not to the level I"m happy with. So you're right shit exists it's just not public. I know other people with OS X exploits etc just sitting on them.

I know exactly where you're coming from there. I've always wanted my software to be harder to use and more time consuming. I just fucking HATE shit that's simple, straight forward and painless...

When uninstalling, why do I want to simply delete a program using one command, rather than click 15 confirmations, wait 5-30 minutes and then still have folder on my pc that I have to go and delete...

On a related note, Google has realised their Search Engine is too simple. They're going to turn their homepage into a pretty flash lander where you have to first click the search button, then type your query in to a box, then confirm it, then leave a postcode/zip code, then click search, then confirm you want to see the results and type in the number of results you're interested in seeing.

Then, should you click a link, they plan on checking that you're sure you want to visit that page then redirect you accordingly after asking if you know Google is not your homepage. I can't fucking wait! Really, simple shit is soooo fucking annoying. :)
 
Lol @ all the mac fanboys. Mac's are way overpriced and you all know it. If it's the OS you like, just install it on a PC. Your computer will be faster and you'll save several grands.

A slight segway here, I was using a friend's macbook last week. Excel on a mac is a pain.

I had this data from one sheet, copied it over to another sheet so I could move that data into other cells since it wasn't sorted. So, I selected a few different cells using the command key (CTRL on Windows) so that I could delete the cells that I had finished using and wouldn't reuse by accident.

What does it do when I press delete? It brings up a stupid box for me to change the data for the top selected cell. I don't want to change the data, I want to delete the contents of all the cells selected dammit!

I tried a few variations of this, but it wasn't happening.

My point, every OS has it's drawbacks and time consuming bits.

That's a great suggestion, but unfortunately it's not a very accurate one. Hackingtoshes are okay, but they are still really buggy and an over all pita compared to a native apple.

Not sure what you're getting at, but Apple sales PCs. I'm not sure, but I really doubt anyone here is using their server line for day to day use.

build me a WORKSTATION grade computer for "several grands" less than a mac pro.

(this is also being typed on a 30" cinema display connected to a hackintosh that's currently booted into OSX, so take my 'fanboi bias' with a grain of salt considering there's a second intel X25M in the box with W7 on it)

This was disproven on the reddit thread about it in the comments. It's actually the wrong price for the wrong generation just to make it look a lot worse.
 
haha, funny reading the comments from people saying they can afford it - it's analogous to saying they can afford to burn their money and make stupid purchasing decisions.
 
If you don't like Macs, buy a PC.

If you can't afford a Mac, buy a PC.

Maybe OSX can be installed on a PC, I don't know about you guys, but I got better things to do with my time.
