I had a nice pair of sennheiser pc 350's for my computer with a nice sound card and I never even listed to music on mp3 players anymore. it sounds so much better with some nice head phones.

I had just gotten a new dog when i bought my first pair, Fucking dog chewed through 3 of those head sets lol.
 
another vote here for sennheiser headphones -- possibly the best "tech" investment i've ever made

I curious as to how much better a sound card makes it? Even more interested in how much to spend on something that makes a difference.

Kinda always though it was slick marketing bullshit.
 
You will definitely hear the difference with a sound card. A 80-140$ sound card is more than enough. After that your getting into like audio buff shit which your normal person probably couldn't tell the difference.

But i recommend getting a sound card and a good pair of head phones. It makes listening to music when your high a religious experience lol.
