What's the best software these days for copying DVD's on PC. I haven't ripped a DVD in a long time, and I was doing it on Mac before, but had to use like 3 or 4 different programs to do it, which is a hassle. Is any all in one software that will do this now, or is it still a 6 hour process to rip and burn one DVD?

You just want to rip them to your computer, or copy them to dvd as well?

I use a combination of AnyDVD, dvd decrypter, and dvd shrink to copy them to a blank dvd and the whole process takes about 30 minutes to an hour depending on the length of the movie.

You can find old versions of dvd decrypter and dvd shrink because I don't think they make them anymore. AnyDVD isn't free but is well worth it. They are always updating it if a movie comes out that it can't rip.

I have heard good things about dvdfab as well. I think you may still need AnyDVD with that to break the encryption.

Shit, I noticed you wanted only one software to do it all. I am not sure of any. But, even with the setup I have now AnyDVD runs in the background. So I insert the DVD and AnyDVD scans it. Then I open DVD Shrink to compress the movie and take shit out I don't want/need. Then when that is done ripping DVD Decrypter opens up automatically to burn the copy to a disk. It is really easy to do.

I want to copy them to recordable DVD as well. I want it to include menus etc. I've used dvd decrypter and dvd shink before along with MacThe Ripper. So as far as you know, there's no all in one software that will do all of this?

If you just want to rip the DVD then burn it, I would go with AnyDVD HD (if you want to burn Blu-Ray too). If you don't want Blu-Ray, just get AnyDvd, it can do what you want, except the burn to dvd part. It can retain the menu, titles, etc. Also you have the option of getting rid of the annoying adverts.

CloneDVD should do what you want to do. I've never tried it though, I usually rip, then convert using handbrake so I can output it on my Apple TV. If you want to rip Blu-Rays to .mkv, then MakeMkv is the best for that.

I guess I never researched it too much after what I use now is working for me. I think you should try out DVDFab or CloneDVD and AnyDVD then. Like I said before AnyDVD breaks the encryption and runs in the background so you will barely notice it. DVDFab and CloneDVD have all kind of options to keep shit and remove the shit you don't want.

A little off subject, but can I setup a huge ass media server and rip my blurays 100% cloned to it, I hate carrying my DVDs and Blurays around. Plus Tera byte drives are getting cheap.

i haven't used DVDFab in a few years, but when I used it, it was the easiest and best...it was fairly quick too.

Dvdfab - don't need anydvd with it. Rips, & burns in less than 20 min. depending on your computer. Does blu-Ray as well

On a Mac you can get it down to 1 or 2.

MacTheRipper to get past encryption, and either Handbrake or ffmpegX to convert.

edit: you mentioned MTR, but I dunno if you've used the others, you mention 3 or 4 programs. I've never seen any all in one program

I haven't tried DVDfab, but a combination of DVDShrink & Burnaware Free have worked for me.

Process takes ~15 - 30 min

Ah... such fond memories of my ripping days :) That's what ultimately got me into marketing! I remembering using 2 programs back in '01: DVD Decrypter and Virtual Dub but they were self-contained in a GUI called Gordian Knot. That's probably still up on Doom9.org that FatBat suggested.

Jeez you guys must all be poor like me, copying DVD's...

Ha ha...na, my sister is poor. I'm copying the P90X DVD's for her to try out.

Oh and DVDFab is great. It does everything from start to finish, and it's pretty quick too.

ImToo Dvd Copier. Hell just torrent the entire ImToo suite while your at it. I use it for anything from converting video files to ripping dvd's to my zune to copying dvd's.
