Have never built a website before , or ever tried ebay for commission earnings.

I'm not going to ask for any niches but should I go with a cheap priced item niche for the first try or a more expensive

:anon.sml:

In my opinion, when it comes to eBay, niche is important, but it's really about planting those cookies. I've had people come through some of my sites and by something completely unrelated to my niche.

For example, someone came clicking for electronics, and then went off and bought some scrapbooking supplies.

So in other words, no matter the niche, get the traffic and plant those cookies cuz there is no telling what they might buy.

very true...

Go with obscure stuff. I've had some success with designers brands of stuff from Europe, etc.

I used to totally agree, and i still do for the most part. But part of the reason i shut down my golf ball site was b/c i had a TON of $0.25 commissions from people buying $1.99 golf balls. Sure i got an ACRU here and there. I even sold a $4,500 fridge once. But i was averaging $20-$50 a month. Sites with same amnt of traffic that sold higher priced items were making 3-4 times that. But when EPN started banning people, i didn't wanna chance it and i shut down my poorly performing sites.

Quite the opposite for me. Highest month of earnings, 10 fold easily.

Same here. I'm already at $700 for the month with my two sites on EPN, and another $80 froma CJ link on one of the sites. My earnings have gone up every single month with EPN. I was worried when everyone else started getting problems. But hasn't hit me yet.

Yeah, the whole EPN bannings had me a bit worried for a few moments, but I'm pretty sure I could easily turn my Ebay affiliate sites into dropship e-commerce sites. If you have enough traffic and make enough conversions, it can serve as great leverage to suppliers and distributors in persuading them to become fulfillment suppliers.

I'm considering abandoning Ebay for Amazon. Ebay has sucked this month.

Sadly ebay is going downhill. The last 2 months have been really bad. Traffic and clicks are the same just less conversions.

Pick a niche that would be easy to get traffic from, don't just throw another ipod site up pick something more unique.

my niches are in stodgy old areas that doesn't have a lot of competition but lots of shoppers. EPN is providing a record month last month and this month, so far for me.

It all comes down to traffic which has a linear relationship with earnings. Find ways to ramp traffic.

However, your links have to be razor sharp relevant to your content. If you have a script generating links, it can't be kicking out motor home links on a Beanie Babies site.

Don't worry about what niche to do for you, just follow the traffic. If you are a guy, and you find some hot niche for TypeX Barbie Dolls, then drive the traffic. I had someone go to my site for golf balls, and buy a harry potter book, dog carrying bag, and shoes.

Pick a niche with highly priced items, especially if you're going to use PPC or some other paid advertising. Lower priced items mean lower commissions - so you'll have to sell a lot more for the same amount of profit.
