Electro, House, Prog fans...

I dunno if I'd say I'm a "fidget" guy... I don't like to pigeon hole myself though. I listen to too much stuff for that!

Thanks for sharing the Calvertron vs Itchyfeet track, but I can't get into it... the first drop is too... for lack of a better word; generic? More modulation please!

*shrug* to each his own

Aye, was the first random Calvertron track I found. Him and Will Bailey are both talented producers for that kinda stuff tho.

The Swedish guys seem to be owning these days... Avicii, Axwell, Eric Prydz, Steve Angello etc. Defo need to get back on Reason this year, missing the beats.

They're definitely "up there" in the scene, but I feel like that's nothing new.

Some of Avicii's tracks are definitely guilty pleasures of mine from time to time...

Most of the other guys you mention are a bit too "cheesy" for me. But there's no doubt that when it comes to 'big room' those guys know what they're doing.

I'm definitely more into electro.

Should be pretty amazing.

I've been listening to a bit of Hot Chip recently too... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mdgLn5BFRQ]Hot Chip - Over And Over - YouTube[/ame]

Now that you got me thinking about it... I haven't been listening to that much "NEW" music recently. hmph. I blame dubstep.

Henry Saiz - this guy had a great year. His Balance CD comp is tons of his stuff if you want a quick overview.

The production here is amazing: needs volume/headphones. Reminds me of peaking in my pill honeymoon 10 years ago. Cocktease on the build up and headfuck stuff going on with the vocals. Love it

Christian Smith has been turning out big-dark-room-skull-fuck-your-sister tunes and remixes for the past few years.

Tommy Four Seven is doing ridiculous stuff with music production. It's not for everyone, but it's raw, angry noisy techno. So fucking dirty.

Nick Warren is still cranking out great tunes and remixes, too.

From a production standpoint, the sounds of Justice and Trentemoller used to leave my head in a mess, which is good. A lot of really talented producers never seem to get a break though and then you see assclowns like LMFAO getting more Youtube views than any other dance act and you wonder wtf. Same with Guetta. Deadmau5 is insanely popular, but at least he does have a genuine talent.

Good shouts man. What do you think of Guy J?! Digweed goes mad for his tunes.

Yeah, Guy J is pretty good, but I haven't heard much from him this year. He's kinda tough on letting his live sets out.

As I seem to always say in these threads, I'm really out of touch with the prog scene. Steve Porter could seemingly do no wrong and everything he put out, be remixes or originals, was sex on wax.

Superb tune by Porter. (The break down and build up - around 5:30 - are incredible. This is a supreme piece of work.)

The same with Polefolder, some of his tunes were incredible.

This is possibly one of my favourite tunes ever. It's incredible, if you listen to one tune, make it this! (This cost me an arm and a leg to get hold of this baby on vinyl.)

Guy Gerber was doing some cool stuff as well, but some of it was very marmite.

Got this on Vinyl fairly recently. This is quite a sweet tune. Checking some of your tracks out Incantation, you'd like this.

I listened to that fake blood track, it's always good to have some old school sound in something modern. (BT - Fibonacci Sequence - The light remix) spring to mind. And this, Zabiela's good.

Can't believe you ended a post recommending Erol Alkan, Boys Noize, and Justice with a Tiesto mention... barf.

Alex Ridha is rolling over in his grave... even though he's still alive and well.

lol, maybe it's just because i was listening to it a lot back in the days (this is from 2000 or so) :)

I bought my first piece of vinyl in 1991, a Spiral Tribe ep, and my turntables in 1992 when the Rave scene in Vancouver was really kicking off. "Old school" and "back in the days" means something completely different to me :)

I dig some of what's been posted here, but I find most of the trance just so cheesy with the predictable piano/pads chord progressions. It's so formula and some of it literally makes me wince in pain. It's soulless crap.

The best House producers in my opinion are the ones bringing and keeping the soul, the funk, the jive, the groove in house. The ones making deep jackin' Chicago style house with tripped out vocals and funky jazzy samples.

Folks like Sonny Fodera, Frankie J, South of Roosevelt, Corduroy Mavericks, The Candy Dealers, Jackin' Box, Da Sunlounge, Camouflage, d-t3ch, Dirt Crew, Inland Knights, Kinky Movement, Jazzy Eyewear, Wattie Green, Jimpster, Lawnchair Generals, Bryan Jones, Scrubfish, Nate Laurence, Pezzner, Phil Weeks, Shur-i-kan, Miles Maeda, The Sound Diggers, The Timewriter, Tommy Largo, Jeff Service, Jay Tripwire, Ian Pooley, Uriah West, Little Man Big, Kid Vibe, The House Inspectors, Mark and Stevens, Latenight Society, etc.

I'm just scratching the surface, there's so much good music coming out these days in all genres and so many people making it and playing it.

I know the sound quality is a bit crap on some of these but I haven't got time to track down good quality versions of everything, YouTube isn't my first choice for listening to music.

I miss Porter's DJ stuff. He's got a company making bank remixing youtube videos now after he did that slap chop one. I think he only DJ's occasionally.
