how about capping the amount of money spent on the link building.. I guess there is a bit of honesty needed for this but rather than allowing someone with plenty of money to win, cap the amount to allow for clever link building rather than throwing everything at it?

If a real term, which one? Ideas?

Remember:
Domains can not be purchased before start of the contest.

Which niche?

And regarding US elections - let's take something non-US residents can relate to as well.

::emp::

Prize: I will remove one of your competitors sites from existence ( low to medium profile only and only 1 week ( effects might last longer ( NO WF USERS will be targeted* period))
If this is not allowed as a prize then I offer a token 250usd BST money ( I will buy your choice BST services for you up to 250usd total) : )

Suggesting "real term" with money making potential

Even a bullshit term becomes extremely competitive with everybody here using their best shit to get to the top spot.

Might as well make it something that will produce a little money after it hits #1.

Here's my pitch for why I think a bullshit term makes more sense for this contest then a real term:

Its a WF SEO contest; if we use a term that is already out there, it dilutes the effect of the actual SEO skillz that members can put to use. Someone like me doesn't have to know anything about how to rank for the term "blue widget", I'll just go out and make an offer to whomever owns a site that already is Top 10 for it, that doesnt demonstrate any SEO skill at all, just the ability to negotiate a domain buy. A bullshit term levels the playing field and puts everybody at the same starting point. Also, there are no "non-competitors" in the mix/SERPS

With a bullshit term, the contest can be shorter, everyone that actually ends up ranking in the SERPs for it is going to be doing so because they are participating in the contest, not because they have owned a somewhat-related domain for years and have a headstart that new contest participants can't match, Age and aged backlinks.

Also, with a bullshit term, we have less geniuses yapping about "no way I'd rank a site for XYZ term for these weak prizes, that is worth $94.38 CPC according to [obscure keyword tool], durr". If you win, its a pure win, you demonstrated that you could beat your WF brothers in a fair fight, winner take all. This is a contest between WFers for some cool prizes and bragging rights, not your actual day job.

There is a reason that all the big SEO contests (Nigritude, elursrebmem n7v, etc) used bullshit terms instead of real one, its the only way to truly compare who is the best when dealing with a limited timeframe and tracking actual results.

  • Real Term - Money motivates me, anyway.
  • Something Expensive or with good EPCs
  • Fairly Short Tail - 3 words max
  • Some of the rest of the non-winners could profit off some long tails anyway, and it would be interesting to see how that works out.

it would be pretty funny if the wf members owned all google results for mayan 2012 bullshit

lol...we could make up our own conspiracies and sell tshirts that guarantee you a ride on the spaceship on dec 21. "you must be wearing your shirt when the apocalypse happens to board"

it would be an interesting social experiment. (i watched this crazy German movie last night on Netflix, The Wave, check it out. this school teacher turns his students into nazis) maybe we go that route.

I like this idea. We could sell survival kits, freeze dried food, shelters, and like you said - the T shirt. :) Do some press releases...get on 60 minutes....this would be fun.

I vote for using a real term that'll create massive lulz when WFers dominate the first 4 or 5 pages.
