England vs USA

Well so far england has been playing kind of shitty. Like vs japan and mexico.

So maybe the US team has a chance for a upset.

In not in the US so I might be missing something, but what's with the HUGE hype about this game? I was just on espn.com and there's an article about how this is the biggest game of the tournament. REALLY?!

That being said, I still dont think the US are in the same league as ENG.. maybe one day, but not yet

USA is probably the most underrated team in this tournament...just because soccer/football is not huge in USA doesn't mean that the team isn't good. They have really gotten a lot better in the past 15 years, and if I remember correctly USA beat spain a year or two ago for their first loss in a couple years? USA isn't a joke team anymore, and have a serious chance at going kind of far in this tournament, but I highly doubt they will win it all.

Agree on USA being underrated, I remember that they pushed both Brazil and Spain well in recent games. Jozy Altidore looks great at only 20-years-old! The MLS has definitely helped to develop the team as well. Should be a great game and glad that it's on Saturday night.

I think it will be fairly even. As far as talent, England probably has a bit more, as well as experience. USA has Tim Howard, and some really pesky, physical players that should keep us in the game. Will be interesting to see how Onyewu comes back from injury. Personally, I think the one thing that will hurt the US in the tournament is Bob Bradley and his poor management.

haha i'd like to see the states win just to piss people off.

I'm so with you there :-)

I'm kinda surprised that so many people here actually know shit about the USA team! Hell, I know hardly anything about my national ream (Bafana Bafana) other that the fact they are rated like 120 in the world, and the World Cup kicks off in my 'hood tomorrow!

The US has gotten a lot better in the last few years, and it's right to say they aren't a walkover like the used to be.

That said, the Premier League is still the best league in the world, and as long as we don't get complacent then having those players in a team should mean we still have too much for them. There is a difference between giving Spain and Brazil a run for their money in a friendly game, and doing it in the World Cup.

It was still a hell of an acheivement for the US team to do what they have recently, and their rate of improvement has been insane considering you guys don't really have any football heritage, but this tournament is probably one too soon. At the next WC in 4 years time, if you continue to improve at the rate you have, then we could be taking the US very seriously.

But now that I've said that, I'm sure you guys will go and win. You're right that if you do, then it is going to piss a lot of people off.

England probably has a bit more talent.. Is that a joke? Get a clue, lol.

I hope USA go far in the tournament though, maybe it would generate more support in the states.

I have watched the US teams closely over several world cups. They are definitely an improving side. As an Englishman, I cannot wish them the best of luck in the first game. But I think they will do well and certainly qualify for the second round.

no.. the usa still fucking blows. Im saying this coming from playing on the best 2 club teams in the nation. Dallas Texans Red and Solar Red. The united states has a SHIT load of talent that falls off or gets pushed to the side. politics are a fucking bitch. If we had all of our talent consolidated into one national team, we would be one of the power houses hands down. its slowly changing from the developmental leagues but too bad its not anywhere near that yet. Clint Dempsey also is a family friend and a past teammate of my bro so yes, i really wish USA was good and hope they do well. Realistically though, people keep saying the USA is underrated and has lots of power, but thats clearly not the fucking case if you have any understanding of worldly soccer.

just sayin... maybe in the next decade

As an American I am more than happy to let the Brits own us in soccer. We don't really care about the game and they deserve to have something over us after watching us beat them in basically everything for the last 60 years.

It's all good. The English can have Soccer. We still beat them in Football, Basketball, Baseball, Hockey, Volleyball, War...

We don't play those sports..

And war? Definitely not.

There are loads of things we could say we are better than you at (and vice versa) but who gives a fuck really.
