Entrepreneurial Burnout

Burnout is a common occurrence for me. Not sure if is a inability to complete things or something else. I tend to focus on projects that excite me but I struggle to find the excitement in everything I do. Am I alone in this?

I guess you could say that's what I've had for the last year.

Although, I would prefer to say it's a "chasing the money burnout" rather than entrepreneurial burnout.

I've been chasing money and success from 16-25 and last year I got a job with a startup and since then I've been extremely lazy in my overall productivity.

I do a good job for my company but other than that, I'm a lazy POS and I'm happier than I've been in a long-time. I play a lot more sports, way more social, go to the gym often, and spend more money than ever before.

Stay focused on the prize. Give yourself rewards for goals met. Remember to balance social and computer time.
Learn and practice a hobby that is completely unrelated to what you do here, such as gardening or R/C planes or guitar.

1. Quit wasting your willpower on things that don't matter.

I've been burned out for years.

It's like PTSD - 50 years ago, men just didn't bitch about it. Find a way to de-stress, it's worked for every other penis-haver since the sun began to shine.

I personally avoid burn out by playing computer games. It really helps me refresh my mind. Overall though, I love doing my work and it isn't a grind.

Yeah I made the mistake of installing League of Legends on my laptop. That's one addictive little fucker right there. Wasted loads of work time with that "oh I'll only play one short game and get back to work". Big mistake.

Back on topic... yeah I've hit that burnout stage quite a few times. I generally find that making a list of all the things I need to do and finding the least exhausting one usually lets me charge my batteries while still being productive, although not overly so.

I also find that I'm usually least motivated if I don't sleep enough. So now, at least once a week I force myself to go to sleep a little earlier. It makes a world of a difference in helping me sit my ass down and working. I really have a hard time concentrating when I'm tired. Coffee isn't enough these days.

Yes. Sleep is another big one. I need at least 8 hours to be functional.

I got great sleep last night and I've been awake for 4 hours so far. Spent about an hour and a half on morning ritual stuff (shit, shower, shave) and my wife made steak and eggs. I've gotten loads done already and feel great. This isn't always the case, but I think it says something about having a good start to your day, to include good sleep.

don't think too much, just take a small vacation and spend some of the hard money and you will be all motivated.

You need some motivation!

Take a vacation, do something amazing that you will savor.

Then think about doing that every month.

Then get to work, make it a reality.

Or find a support group of people who will hold you hand. WF might not be the best place for those who are looking to hear someone vomit rainbows.

No they don't. They might get paid that in salary, but they certainly don't accumulate it.

They spend it on cars, vacations, expensive homes, iPhones, iPads, new computers, game consoles, expensive restaurants, clothes, diet pills and interest payments.

STFU, you ignorant little cocksucker. Every time you post you get stupider.

@Mituozo- FTFY.

Howdy Folks,

Has anyone here ever been through a period of entrepreneurial burnout where you just generally feel really lazy?

I've recently hit a patch where financially I have been doing quite well with existing projects but just cant bring myself to push for growth or to execute new ideas/projects. I have even had folks approach me with great ideas looking to partner that I have turned down. It's as if I have hit the comfort zone and simply cant be bothered any-more. Which is seriously weird, because I used to be the hungry/lean type...not for $$$....but fur the win/success feeling.

I've wondered if it was exercise related as I haven't done much for a while now and am only just starting to get back in to lifting and running regularly. Either way my drive has slowly diminished over the last 6 months.

Anyone else that has been through this before want to dispense some advice?

oh and inb4 OP is a fag tags lol

Cheers

Unless you own everything about your business from top to bottom how can you sleep peacefully at night?

The thing that motivates me the most is knowing that there is someone out there that's hungrier, more ambitious and more motivated than I am who wants what I have. If you don't want it bad enough they're going to take it. Frankly that scares the shit out of me to the point that I hustle it every day.... so OP what drugs are you on that allow you to not give a fuck that everything you worked for will be ripped out from under you by someone else at any moment?

Ive been self employed for about 20 years now and setting goals has been a good way to avoid and deal with this slump and burn out. The book how to get where you want to be by Jack Canfield has a good system for this-highly recommend it.
