I'm wondering what you guys would do in a home invasion. Personally, after hearing how fucked up they can get and the fact that I have a women in the house (rapes often occur).. I'd shoot first and ask questions later. I keep a shotgun with rounds in the magazine ready to go and in a safe place (no kids in the house).

I'm no Rambo but I can't stand the idea of sitting there at the mercy of a group of thugs not knowing if they're just going to steal some shit or rape/kill as well. I'd rather not take the chance. Even if I lost a gun fight I'd rather do that than be sitting there at the mercy of some cunt with a gun to my head.

Your home is your castle. If you happen to live in a state with Castle law, then your plan is lawful. Different states may have a slightly different take, but the general idea is: if someone forces their way into your home uninvited, then "jeopardy" is assumed. There is no requirement to retreat or ask them what brings them by this evening. This is how it should be.
Many (or most) of the states with Castle laws also protect you from the possibility of civil judgements against you brought by the family of the intruder.

Been In a Similar situation ( I posted about here I think in a gun thread)

Walked Into my house And I could tell someone had broken in ( I had only been gone about 20 Minutes -- I figured they were still there).

Picked up the cordless phone went into my locked bedroom closet. Called 911 told police I walked in on an intruder and I was looking for him with my shotgun.

Screwed on the riot barrel, loaded up 3" 12 gauge # 4 shot and went looking for the bitch.

Like I said this is a re post so I'll edit it down-- the police informed me later (the bitch had already left) If I shot or killed him -- I'd be going to jail! In NYS you can not pursue someone into your house.

You can defend yourself by any means available to you if you are inside when they come a callin.

By the age of 14 I got shot on my head during a gun fight in a rough neighborhood that I had to go through each day on my way to school. It was by a shotgun but was lucky the idiot was far enough for me to just get hit by a couple of lead bullits - one in my left leg, the other on my head.

Didn't hurt but there was blood all over the place. Pissed myself and was certain that was going to dye. My fucking stepmother wanted to beat me because I had ruined my clothes with blood, the bitch.

The hood was demolished years latter, my stepmother has already gone to hell (I hope) and never had anymore experiences with guns.

I do not know how I grew up in a low end part of town... Yet all of you IM's have had such experiences - I think maybe some of you are full of shit.
