"IN 2000 four Americans were charged with importing lobster tails in plastic bags rather than cardboard boxes, in violation of a Honduran regulation that Honduras no longer enforces. They had fallen foul of the Lacey Act, which bars Americans from breaking foreign rules when hunting or fishing. The original intent was to prevent Americans from, say, poaching elephants in Kenya. But it has been interpreted to mean that they must abide by every footling wildlife regulation on Earth. The lobstermen had no idea they were breaking the law. Yet three of them got eight years apiece. Two are still in jail."

i cant believe it, this is beyond absurd.

That lobster importer shutdown sounds like a competitor pulled a few strings and threw a couple of bucks to get him shook

hmmm i did some research. didnt see anything about bags in the indictment. looks like they may have been legitimately breaking some overfishing regulations:

"McNab owns one of the largest fleets of lobster-fishing vessels in Honduras, and the indictment charged that workers on his vessels harvested lobster that were under the legal size limit set by Honduras. They also harvested egg-bearing lobsters in violation of Honduran regulations and harvested lobster and shrimp during the closed seasons set by Honduras. To conceal the catch of egg-bearing lobsters, the parts of the lobster tails to which the eggs were attached were clipped off."

Ok, then it's good they were caught. That kind of overfishing shit is what's killing the ecology in many countries.

I have nothing against Americans but the way your government sticks it's nose in everything is sickening, from municipal ,state and federal. I know I know Canada isn't to far behind, we have the ass kissing Harper shit show going on here. Fucking politics is hopeless.

I'm ten minutes into this video and I'm fucking livid I can't believe this shit WHAT THE FUCKING HELL.

I like the Pakistani guy "What? In Pakistan you can do anything you don't need nothing for there."

Pakistan land of the free lmfao.

Just picked up an interesting book on this topic the other day - it's $1.99 on Kindle at the moment. The only bad part is that I'm not entirely sure I'll finish it. It's one of those books that will make you mad if you let it, and there aren't a lot of good solutions to the problems it highlights (aside from moving).

Stossel's show is awesome. But how long until he joins Judge Napolitano in the unemployment line?
