Facebook Ads moving outside Facebook

Nice one,Unarmed Gunman.

I called that shit a long time ago - was wondering what was taking so long.

Should be good for general sites but I can't see it being a competitor for sites getting decent CPMs.

Of course can't compete for big publishers getting $15-20 CPM.

Adsense has only like $2 CPM, so they just gotta beat that. Quite possible IMO.

They are slightly bigger in display than google right now, so imagine what a boost to their revenue is going to be an instant 30% bite of GDN.

They just gotta figure out their mobile monetization and things will look pretty bright for FBs future.

Pretty much all their revenue comes from their ads and Facebook will surpass them with much better ad targeting. Who's gonna stay loyal to the Googlez... they have lost the plot and they've made a lot of enemies. This is obv a direct response to them stepping on FB's territory with Google+. Will be fun watching this play out.

Right now, Facebook is working with a small number of ad exchanges which already have relationships with publishers, who will then sell those Facebook ads to third party apps and Web sites. Those ads are like the ones you see inside of Facebook, only optimized for the mobile Web or for apps which already serve ads.

Pretty much you said bullshit.

The vast majority of googlez money comes from search ads, not the contextual network.

Currently the company's policy states that Facebook would only serve ads on external sites with social context, so removing that context as a requirement would theoretically allow Facebook to target ads anywhere on the Web using its users' Facebook profile data, such as likes or other interests to target ads.
