Fact or Myth: Xrumer Links Pointed to your site - Case Study



I'm interested in seeing what happens to this site. I've been in the process of destroying one of my domains with links. It's 1000+ when it was once on page 2. Been gone for a while. Going to keep hammering for a while and see what happens. Medium competition keywords.
 
It looks like his site was dropped from Google/Yahoo/Bing for all KW tested except for "plastic business cards" - ranking #10 at Goog for that term (started at #11).

Of course, the ranking drop could be due to the site not resolving, but then I wouldn't expect it to rank for "plastic business cards".

@onthewayup - Any news?

A week long downtime will do that to your rankings...

What about the %age of these links that disapear within a few days? That's a huge signal right here. It screams **SPAM**. There are a lot more signals like this.

Really great experiment,,and what happen to your site in the end...
but, I think slow down in link building is important...:)
 
I'd love to hear an update on this too! just got through the whole damn crazy thread

(great way to get to know WF being new here ;) gotta admit this place has more crazy ass mix of top quality - really top quality shit - with badass mad stupid yet frighteningly addictive charasima than anywhere!)

but seriously yeah i'd love to hear an update partly as i do a lot o xrumering with my own copy on a vps but have generally stopped hitting my main sites just the feeders after (and not blaming it on this, though i don't know what the hell else it could have been) I had my first ever actual de-indexing of a site a couple months back...

i have about 150-175 sites all on ded c class seo hosting and have ranked many a site so that freaked me a bit - probably too much - and i took my foot off the pedal a bit...
but its one good reason to have plenty of sites ;) you lose a few here and there i guess...

This may seem like a stupid question but how do these profile links "dissapear"?

Do they get deleted by forum owners? I don't think the forum owners are manually deleting links (when probably there are probably tens or hundreds of new registrations/day).

Every single time I did it, I received a -50 penalty after 2 weeks. I have a feeling though that this was caused by manual reviews of the site. I have done this for other keywords (which weren't heavily bid on with adwords) and they seem to stick.

how are you determining a -50 penalty? What tool are you using?

Either remove the links, build better ones with anchor text variation and or just site/brand name links. One thing is for sure, it will take a while to move back up!
