At my desk!
i cant believe this shit... 2 months ago i built a site for a fella and have since(at no extra cost) been helping him tweak and modify the site to his own needs, and also for my own reasons been helping him promote the site and giving him pointers as to what to do next.... now i only charged the fella $250 for the whole site which is actually worth about $2000+... (i actually already built the site for somebody else but they couldnt pay so i sold it on at a knock down price)

anyway... i woke up this morning only to find the assshole has pulled a chargeback on me and put my paypal in the red....

what can i do to get this asshole back?

i really cannot afford the 250 chargeback... i wouldnt of sold him the site at that price (+all the graft ive put in) if i could afford it...

am i fucked or what?

help:eek:

Next time don't be so damn nice. Everyone drops the soap sometimes.

There's a big difference between being helpful and nice to friends privately and being helpful and nice to random people/customers privately. The friends will usually be cool about everything, and return the favor sometime down the road. The random people and/or customers will treat you like a whore and try to get as much as they can from you for as cheap as possible (or free). Not all customers or randoms are like this, in fact, very few, but it's the very few that you always need to have your guard up with, especially customers, because if you don't draw out the lines between "this is what you paid for, and this is extra" then they may take full advantage of you for it, which seems to be the case here.

How about you post the client's url here, and we'll have some SEO fun with it. Goatse keywords perhaps?

Wow, I'd say you got the better end of the deal for first charging $250 for such a piece of shit site, haha! No offense of course, because that's a hell of a lot better than I can design or code anything up. I especially like the crappy dynamic SID shit. Damn. Hasn't anyone ever schooled you in mod_rewrite or anything? Time to start learning.

Oh yes, this site doesn't need any SEO gaming, it will very likely just fail on it's own. If you really want to get him back, take a trip down to Craigslist for his local area, and post a few ads in the M4M category about trannies and sailor outfits and being home alone wanting to "experience a man's love for the first time". Be sure to include his necessary contact information. Those always work well, and call him in a few days and ask how the dating is scene is coming along for him... Or send some escorts... $750 worth. Tell them you'll pay when they show up. Order a bunch of them, you know, like a private party, or one each night, at say... 3am or 4am?

i agree the site needs work... but what do you expect for 250... gold fuckin dust.... theres a big cms behind this site that took a shitload of coding hours to complete... if you login you will see it

which reminds me...
any username
global password is "plonker"

So go into the admin panel and fuck shit up?

Or maybe go into there, create a macro or script and make his life tougher by creating a billion new accounts and fake info. Make sure to leave lots of fake feedback on it about how it's a ripoff and blah blah.

Geez, for a designer you're not very creative! Get with it!

still dont get me my money though... fuckin asshole im so mad.... any way i can get his address?

This *MAY* help you out :)
411.com - Online Directory Assistance

Both the numbers appear to be cell phones - may I suggest that some excess text messages are in order?
AnonTxt.com - Send Free Anonymous Text Messages Online
Or perhaps since I assume he won't answer the cell when you call you might want to call one of the numbers while spoofing the caller ID to show that the call is coming from the other cell using a service like
Fake Caller ID, Change Your Voice, Record Calls Spoof Caller ID - SpoofCard.com
Good luck getting even and/or getting your money back.

Get paid in stages, with money upfront, next time.

Tell 'em straight off the bat "I want to make a fat net profit from you, otherwise it's not worth my time". No one can argue with that, and directness is refreshing to people.

Some hosting providers have fees for every gb of bandwidth they go over their limit. Why don't you do a little "stress testing" on his server.

no.. im just tired and mad.... id rather find his address, go round there and smash his face in

My wife was Sicillian and taugh me an old saying, "Revenge is a dish best served cold." Be patient then, be invisible when you DO get payback. :anon.sml:

I think if you open a paypal dispute and declare the item as a virtual item, you win. No clue if it applies to chargebacks though.

Sorry to go against the crowd sentiment, but if I were in your shoes, here's what I'd do...

1. Consider the likelihood of getting your money back.

2. Consider the time (and effort) required to get your money back.

3. If the cost is too high (in terms of time and effort), file it as a "Lesson Learned" and get on working your business.

If you "really cannot afford the 250 chargeback," yet there is little chance of recovering your monies, then you sure as heck can't afford to waste more time chasing something that will never materialize.

I realize what I'm saying "feels" wrong. Especially since you want to do this person physical harm. But, in the end, the above may be the best thing for the growth of your business.

Sorry it happened to you, ozonew4m. That does blow.

Dude, I'm a broke college kid too and I just went to the Indian Casino cuz I was bored. I threw $100 in the un-manned roulette game- got it up to $500, then blew it all and another $100. I feel your pain. Maybe we can cuddle and cry together.

Nope. If it's a chargeback then you're pretty much fucked. PayPal will try to argue with the other person's credit card company, but it's out of their hands. Sure they could do the right thing and back their members, but they don't. So, they go by whatever the cardholder's CC company decides.

If they used AMEX, you'll never see the money.
