Greetings,

After having participated in more affiliate programs I can count over the last decade, I now find myself developing one for a client. I have done my best to structure the program to address the myriad of shortcomings associated with previous experiences.

I’m hoping that some of you can chime in and let me know if we’ve done a respectable job building a solid foundation. Any feedback is greatly appreciated, including comments regarding the conversion numbers I have so far (nov/dec).

Finally, not sure if it's appropriate to mention the site, so I'll steer away from self promotion :) If it's cool to post the url, please let me know, as I'd be honored to do so.

Company Description:
Credit Card Processing, Merchant Accounts, Terminals, etc.

Program Type:
CPA / Incentives based on Applications submitted.

Incentive:
$75 per approved application or $10 per completed application.

Region:
U.S. (actually US Merchant Applications only)

Payment Method:
Checks only (ACH forthcoming)

Campaign Support:
You can specify optional campaign ids in affiliate URL. These campaign ids are reflected in system status notifcations, payment statements, and the affiliate dashboard.

Affiliate Notifications:

- Email to affiliate when application was submitted as a result of their affiliate ID.
- Email to affiliate when transaction was approved or denied.

Affiliate Control Panel (custom):

- View Number of Cookies set as a result of Affiliate ID.
- View the number of times a visitor landed on an application page.
- View the number of applications submitted.
- View conversion rates (percentage of approved applications by total submittals).
- View status for applications pending, approved, or denied.
- View account payment statements.
- A Link Builder Tool to assign campaign ids, set cookies on promo sites, etc.

Affiliate Recognition:

We operate about a dozen promotion sites, each with a “recommended sites” section where we highlight various affiliates via banner and text links. Cookies set on main site, or promo sites are honored throughout the network.

Promotional Products:

We are developing a line of Free mobile phone credit card processing applications that support Authorize.Net and PayPal Web Payments Pro. Currently the BB version is available for free download, Android version in Beta now, Pre on the way, iPhone available, but not as a free download. So far it has been a terrific tool to get potential customers to the site.

We also manage about a dozen mini-promotion sites that contain teaser forms. Affiliates can direct visitors to the network sites where cookies are set and honored throughout the network. This is true for all but one of our 13 promo sites.

Customer Support Services (complimentary):

- Affiliate Account Representative with toll free contact number
- Design resources for custom created banners, graphics, etc.
- Writers for creating custom content, i.e. blogs, news, etc.
- Creation of custom "Teaser" or "Pre-forms" for affiliate sites.

Affiliate Performance & Conversion Rates:

Top Affiliate Dec (so far): 45 applications
Highest Number of cookies set by an affiliate (one month): 636

Conversions based on applications submitted vs. approved transactions.

Highest “Per Approved Application” conversion ($75): 40.0%
Lowest “Per Approved Application” conversion ($75): 12.1%

Highest “Per Approved Lead” conversion ($10): 100%
Lowest “Per Approved Lead” conversion ($10): 50%

If you are looking for estimates regarding per click / per approved transaction, I don't have a standard number available, although I suppose it could be derived from the info above.

For reference, the highest conversions originate from sites that cater to business owners.

Thanks a million for your time.

Best,

Tim

Sorry kyaizen, but what is it about the program that is questionable? I would love to hear your comments and have the opportunity to respond.

I'm just trying my best to build a successful affiliate solution for my client. We've been working for about 4 months building this, i.e. tracking system, dashboards, notification system, promo-sites, mobile apps, etc.

Thanks,

Tim

Normally you'd get banned for promoting an affiliate program without prior written consent from the owners of WF. In this case, though, it appears that you're just asking for people's advice on the setup.

Don't cross the line and start recruiting or you WILL get banned.

Also, this is just my interpretation of the Rules, another mod may see it differently and ban you for the aforementioned rule.

Great post, interesting to see what you have setup and everything you have taken into consideration.

Thanks SEO Mike. I just figured this was likely a perfect place to have seasoned affiliates review and critique the program. With that said, I certainly understand if other Mods see this as teetering on the line of what is acceptable or not.

I'm not sure I'll have the opportunity again to manage the creation and structure of an affiliate program from the ground up, so I want to make sure that I've done a respectable job. What I've tried to do is to create something that addresses the littany of gripes I've had as an affiliate myself.

Best,

Tim

Guerilla,

I'm curious if there's anything in the program details that stands out as a huge plus, or for that matter, anything of concern, or perhaps, something important to you that I have not addressed.

Best,

Tim

Merchant end of it: Where the security against fraud?

i.e. if I was a shady fuck, I'd get a bunch of census data, and start filling out applications, not caring if they got approved or not, because I'm after the easy $10 per completed form.
I'd be hiding my arse behind several proxies to do this, and getting a bot to send traffic at randomised intervals of no less than 10 minutes, and no more than an hour, day parting it so peopel don't sign up at unusual times.

How are you protecting the merchant from that?

@HarveyJ One thing is that they have to be able to get in contact with the applicant so it would be a lot harder for someone to pull that off.

I've got plenty of fb groups with thousands of members and totaling more then 1 lakh . member size is around 17k, 13k , 4k and so on ....
