OK, I took what Jon talked about in his blog about internet real estate and I applied it to a website I created about 2 weeks ago and made a nice profit from it.

site:
loveablelayouts.com

Costs:
2 bulletins - $40.00
3 text links - $15.00
---------------------
total - $55.00

Sold in 20 days of being live online, for $1,500

profit: $1,445.00 USD!

This was my first time selling a website, and I was very pleased with the outcome (obviously). I was planning on keeping the site and building it more over time, but I read jons post in his blog and decided to try and sell it. MAN am I glad I did!

Im currently working on 2 more sites to flip right now.

Thanks Jon!

(i know this was a random rambling, just didnt know where to post it).

Robert,

That's an excellent job you did!

Would you mind sharing about your strategy?
eg. your subject line, your body copy, negotiations, etc

did a girl buy it -- I think that was a good twist on the myspace play (designing for chicks) - BTW - nice ranking for -- girly layouts.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Mike330: No, It was not from there. I got the script from someone who re-wrote a script similar to that one in his own code, and fixed some things up in it.

DanNicol: a girl didnt buy it. But I was aiming for just girly layouts so this way, it would bring in a good amount of traffic since myspace is a LOT of girls.

sixty6: I actually updated the site manually. I bought a few custom glitter graphics, and created my own layouts for the site.

the value in the site is the large amount of free daily traffic it was getting.

Rob's choice of 'girly' for the theme was getting a lot of SE hits most MS sites don't get.

and Robb - i never did hear back from you about who did your bulletins. Please PM me either here or on DP...

interesting you sold it for $1,500....no biggie - to be safe i always prefer escrow.com for $x,xxx sales versus a straight paypal sale to someone i haven't worked with before. if someone sent you the funds direct, that's cool. would have been nice to counter the terms of my payment offer though. next time :)

Rob - i may have a business proposition for you - hit me up when u get a chance.

thanks

Wow, that is awesome.

After reading Jon's blog entry, I created a few sites to try to "flip" (I guess that term doesn't apply). However, I thought I'd need to wait till the next PR update for anyone to be interested. I guess not.

Congrats!

Wow, I just saw your DP thread and you were already generating some serious money.

Who did you buy the myspace bulletins from btw?

That is amazing and incouraging to everyone I do this to when I find the right sites and it is amazin.
