Force Lower Gas Prices

Yep..Prices are here to stay. That is unless all the politicians die and all branches of the government are taken over by Reagan Republicans...WTF...a guy can dream can't he.

Seriously, all of the experts claim (even my hero T.Boone Pickens) say we will never see under $3 again.

"Reaganomics" shut down most of the refineries in the US to begin with.

If people started getting Tesla Roadsters en masse, then I think you'd see the cost of fuel drop... Not because there's a big scare in the oil companies and they're cutting the price to keep you hooked, but simply because there would be less demand for the product.

Sadly, Tesla Roadsters aren't legal for street use in Australia, apparently...

Not sure how anyone can buy into the supply & demand crap. Given that the states are constantly preached as one of the biggest consumers of oil we should have been paying more per gallon than anyone else years ago. Right?

Right. Fuckers.

If they find another billion years worth of oil somewhere (other than where it all is now) I'm sure prices would go down.

Its a nice idea in theory but not enough people would stick to it a few years back in the UK fuel protestors blockaded the refineries which at least had the effect of making the government shat themselves and loook stupid even if it did not reduce prices.

the problem is when you hear "enough oil found for x amount more years" they are usually using the present rate of consumption. However oil consumption grows each year. China's oil consumption has grown steadily at 8% each year which means their oil use will grow exponentially doubling every (70/8 =) 8.75 years.

Also take into account that china's currency is being artificially suppressed so they don't hurt their exports. If they float their currency in the future it could rise fivefold against the dollar, and since oil is priced in dollars it means they would start getting oil 80% cheaper than before. Meaning even more demand and higher prices for everyone else.

People really need to get out of the 20th century way of thinking, and fast.

Actually, now, the reason prices for fuel are so cheap in America is because of the insanely low tax rate on it.
Europe and UK have pretty high taxes on their fuels. These taxes pay for all manner of things, from road to public transport infrastructure and even environmental redevelopment programs.
Americans, as a rule of thumb, are obsessed with only paying what they think is their "fair share" of tax. i.e. the "why the fuck should I pay an extra $0.20 per gallon for developing a train network, when I drive, fucko?" mentality.
Those people should pay, because they'll be the first to complain about how come there's no viable mass transit system to use when it's too expensive to drive the car anymore ;)

Australia's mass transit (excepting Perth) is in a really sorry state, as our previous Federal Government diverted all the funds from the fuel taxes into promoting the war effort (not overtly stated, but look at the budget figures between 2003-2007 and notice an increase expenditure that roughly matches the decrease in funds to non-road infrastructure development and tertiary education)

Ohh yeah lets boycot the oil companys for 1 day by not filling up..so that the next day..everyone fills up at once..and oil companys report record profits..YAY !!

Gas will go down if we make alaska bend over and take her drilling like she should.

The problem here just isn't the depleting oil resources and the high price of gas. There are many factors going on. For example, the high gas prices are the results of governments failure to take care of their people. They let the oil companies and all the big corporations who secretly run the world fuck us all in the ass. They also just don't fuck us by having ridiculous profits at our expense, oh no. The fuck us by forcing us to use technology almost 100 years old for our daily travel. I mean come on, even though it hasn't saturated the markets *mainly due to the oil companies killing/threatening/bribing/whatever* there are and have been viable alternatives to gas powered vehicles.
I notice that some of you pointed out the supply and demand factor. The supply as we all know keeps on diminishing and the demand rises. Bad for us, good for the oil company bastards who will be dead by the time this fucks up our whole planet and ruins economies.
What really needs to be done is all the alternative power/fuel people/companies is for them to get together and take their eco friendly fucking foots and shove them up the oil companies black oily slimy asses. Stop being a green bitch and become a green monster guys, go incredible hulk on their ass.

*If I was a super intelligent inventor of alternative power and fuels I would definitely release it to the world for free. My reward would be (hopefully) some balancing out in the worlds economy.*

There are stories of people that have attempted that, and wound up very very dead...
Ben Elton even wrote a book with that being the underlying plot... Gridlock I think.

OH yeah I know.. it's really shitty.. I guess it just has to be done on the sly.. and done real fucking fast.. like plastered all over the internet.. maybe connect it with porn so it spreads fast..

On that same note.. my dad had a guy at his work that was a mechanical engineer.. who made a carbeurator or some shit.. I'm not very auto inclined.. anyways who made it so his car got like 120 miles to the gallon.. from just some mechanical changes.. well him and his whole family were threatened with death if he didnt give up the patents to the oil company.. pretty shitty stuff..

You can find out how gullible someone is by asking them to tell you their opinions on the oil industry.

Am I the only one who likes the higher gas prices, and hopes they keep rising? It's the only way to get the dumb fuck american joe to start thinking about the future rather than their next cheese burger. They'll start alternatively powered vehicles to save 1000$ a year, but not to clean up the planet.

cars off gas = cars on the grid
cars on the grid = immediate demand for energy
demand for energy = profit opportunities
profit opportunities = newer, cleaner energy sources (and nuclear, ugh)

Assuming for a moment predictions about the environment are even close to correct, a nuclear plant influx is probably the only solution viable for the short term (60 or so years).

Yay for higher gas prices (bummer for the old and the poor though), fuck you whiny bitches - this includes my neocon parent and siblings.
