You could try something with video. Make it so entrants have to upload it to YouTube with the WF URL in the title or something. Make the barrier of entry really low so more people can try (ie. no editing required). As for the topic... hmmm... It could be something simple like a video review of the forum and what it's about, to coming up with a list a crazy/goofy things that the video has to be about and judge on the best execution.

Or what about doing some sort of review contest - members have to review WF, maybe answer some specific questions (ie. what's your favorite post and why? to get some deep incoming links) on their own site/blog. You could name winners from the best ones.

You could have members write up guides/tutorials on set list of topics and you could choose winners from the best ones. Yay for free content! :)

I like the idea of getting pictures/video with the WF logo in it - especially on actual TV. :)

These aren't great, but maybe they spur some ACTUAL good ideas!

You could have a myspace friend contest.

Rules:

1. Myspace profile MUST be created on or AFTER [StartDate]

2. Myspace Profile Name MUST include the word/phrase 'Wicked Fire'

3. Main Profile Image MUST contain picture of YOU holding a WF sign

4. The top 10 contestants with the MOST number of friends at the end of the contest get tickets.

******SPECIAL 'SCAVENGER HUNT' TWIST******

Every day, Jon or some other wannabe power monger can throw out a profile chosen at random for you to request friend adds. The power monger will also assign a number of points that will be awarded for that add. (EXAMPLE: Hillary Clinton - 100 Points)


There could be a lot of funny publicity if the power mongers choose their profiles right!
 
Definitely a referral contest. WF is at 7,737 as of this post. Prizes to the person that refers user # 10,000, and prize to the person that refers the most new users.

I think 10,000 is doable by ASE.
 
How about this:

Contest participants take one of the best threads that WF has to offer. You know, one of the threads that really lays it on the line on how to make some money or that offers a free tool that helps. Here are some examples:

Anyway, you get the gist. It has to be a good thread where someone really laid out some gold for other WF members.

Ok, once the participants have chosen their thread, they have thirty days to implement what is in that thread. Whatever it is, they document the shit out of it in their OWN thread that they KEEP UP WITH. This is a MUST.

I think this is a great idea because not only are guys finally getting off their asses and out of the "Shoot the Shit" section, but they are ACTIVELY giving back to this forum by making an informational thread that others can learn from.

Even if you FAIL you still learn something and everyone else will to.

The winner will not be the guy that makes the most money (though you can have a separate winner for that too!) but will be the guy with the MOST INFORMATIVE and HELPFUL thread.

So no matter what, everyone wins. WF gets another thread that is informational, more newbies get involved and start giving back, and the contestants finally have a reason (other than the money that they make, of course) to get off their asses and finally make use of all the great info here.

i thought of a musical contest - you have to upload a video of you or your band playing a song, and obv someone has to say wicked fire in the middle of it.

the song could be anything, not necessarily wf related. have people vote on the best entry.

my other idea involved an online poker tournament, that would be fun. not sure how many people would be up for it. i know seo blackhat's poker tourney took a while to get any entries. wish i had known about it when it took place.

another idea would be to see who can find the weirdest, most obscure and esoteric web sites (without objectionable content). you really can find some hilarious websites if you dig around enough.

Another contest idea:

Flier Contest -

Contestants come up with catchy fliers to pass out at the ASE (help attract people to the booth) and Jon can choose 1 or more to use. Person whose Flier gets chosen gets a free ticket to ASE, and also pass out the fliers.

Good thing about fliers is that they don't require graphics, just catchy pitch to keep from getting thrown away.
 
I don't know why I love this thread so much... contests and little gay marketing things just push my love buttons I gues...

Here's another contest idea for the powers that be to mull over:

whoever gets the most ridiculous fake (or real for that matter) story into DIGG or any other megapublisher wins tickets.

EXAMPLE:

May 10th 2007 - In a public statement to the press, famed funny man Will Farrell announces his latest business venture into the Internet by purchasing controlling interest on WickedForum.com

You get the idea...
