Fucking Police

Well they checked the GPS. The cop drove around a little bit apparently looking for the dog. That doesn't say much if you ask me, but it kind of ruins the whole story. Guess I won't be going to the papers.

Turns out also, that the cop is this angry son of a bitch who no one likes. He used to work in another town, and they dumped him off on us without telling us what an angry bastard he is. But at least they're now putting collars in all the cop cars, like theres already supposed to be.

Most cops are angry SOBs who no one likes. I called the police a few months ago because my neighbors 2 kids, ages 5 and 6, were alone at a park 2 miles away from our neighborhood and the little 5 year old girl needed to use the bathroom. No bathrooms in the park and no parents around. My wife and another woman drove her a few blocks down to a gas station. Called the cops to report the kids were alone, scared, and didn't know the way home. Cop showed up and was pretty annoyed that we just didn't take the kids home.

I told him what if the parents had accused us of abducting them or something, what could we really do to defend that, plus the kids are fucking 5/6, they shouldn't be alone that far away, etc.

I fucking hate cops too.

lol it's just a stupid dog and you got too much time on your hands

leave it and let it find it's way home, instead you did all that bullshit with cops and the dog paid.

Whooptie doo!

I'm pretty sure the dog had one helluva fun time roaming around. That's kind of what dogs do.

Oh boo fucking hoo. I think you're missing something important here: The cop opened the door and the dog bolted. Have you ever tried to chase a dog who didn't know you? Fucking impossible.

For all I know, the cop is a colossal dick who makes Skeletor look like a nice guy, but it's not his job to go chasing a dog around. It was nice enough of him to drive around looking for it for a bit.

But it IS his job to deliver it to the Vet safely, and it IS his job to put a leash on it. Or at least touch it, like he was afraid to do. That's why they're putting collars in all the cars now, because they're supposed to be in there. Are you saying that when you give a lost dog to a police officer, his only responsibility is to park his car at the Vet, and then the dog's on its own? I don't think so. How would you feel if that was your dog? Also, I don't know if you've ever tried to catch a 15lbs infected terrier, but it's pretty fucking easy.

And once he "bolts off" (even though his owner said he's not the type to do that), the cop should DEFINITELY not lose sight of him. He shouldn't have had to drive around (who knows, he may have only done that because he knew about the GPS) to look for it. He should have known exactly where he was and just had to drive TO the dog and pick him up. It's pretty simple.

How do you let a dog just run out of your car.

i agree, it's just a dog.. cop should hardly be responsible.
if it were me i wouldn't let my infected dog get away.. if i did that's my own fault, cops shouldn't be the ones taking care of it..

Exactly! Granted it's different from town to town, but in most towns animal control is separate from law enforcement so the fact that he even allowed the dog in his car surprised me.

And for those of you who hate cops, try being one for a while. Maybe you'll learn a new appreciation for them. Not saying there aren't cops out there who suck. But hating someone just because of their career choice is a bit stupid don't ya think?

I can't see why he'd even want to touch it. Would I want to touch a banged up dog that was just found wandering around the streets? Hell no. Rabies shots are huge.

What he should have done is put the dog in the back seat, hope it doesn't piss on anything, and leave it in there while he went inside to get a vet. Let the animal shelter people worry about it.

I kind of had a misspent youth and I can assure you, most cops are total fuckwads.

Why would anyone subject themselves to:

1. A union.
2. Ranking system that doesn't reward common sense and accomplishment, but rather years of service
3. A $40K Salary that can't be negotiated without your union
4. 10 years of 3p-11p or overnight shifts just hoping that one of the old guys will get too old or retire and you can start working 7a-3p.
5. The knowledge that 50% of what you do in any given day is a negative to the person you're interacting with, and that person hates you for it even though it has nothing to do with you personally.

Damn, where do I signup?

Okay, I'm going to prove your point on this one because... well, it's a crap job.

  1. not in every jurisdiction, and they're usually optional
  2. unfortunately very true, and aggravating as hell
  3. depends, where I worked starting salary was only $21K and I've seen others that pay even less.
  4. varies, many departments do a rotating shift which can be worse.
  5. 50%? Yeah, usually much, much higher. Even the people you help don't tend to be all that grateful.
The only thing I can say in defense of the job is
  • occasional warm fuzzies
  • perfect job for adrenaline junkies, get paid (a little) to get your fix
  • we need someone to do it.
And a tidbit that you're sure to love: The FBI psych profile for a career criminal and a career cop are nearly identical, or so I was told.

Definitely overreacting a bit, pathetic excuse for a human? Going to make him pay? Lol how did you know he didnt look for the dog, for all you knew he spent hours looking for it.

And would a paper really give a shit about the story? A cop who didnt catch a dog which jumped out his car i mean seriously wtf.

Not only did he commit animal cruelty, but he failed on all fronts to do his job.
Meh. Animals should not have any rights anyway.
That includes that they should not have the right to absence of cruelty.

That guy seems like a twat. It's a sad fact that jobs with authority attract wankers who will misuse that power, but I've gotta say here I've got a much bigger issue with the people who make the laws than with those who enforce them.
