There was something on the news here a few years back, it didn't set off any alarms and such, but rather the pilots kept calling an attack cuz a standard laser pointer was getting pointed into the cockpit during takeoff and landing. Turns out someone was setting up a higher power red laser out of their balcony. lol. Not illegal mainly cuz they are used in industrial applications such as landscaping and such, but illegal in that form of use.

The guy was basically protesting the noise pollution. (some regions the airlines/airport paid for sound proofing the nearby neighborhoods, but thats not the case in all cities).
