Here's one from a few years ago with my parents and I.
My father had bid on an item on ebay and wanted me to watch it durin hte final minutes to make sure he won. He's not the fastest typer.. er poker so he new he had no chance to up the bid if he was outbid during hte last few seconds. He told me how muhc he wanted to spend and I told him sure I'd watch it. The item gets down to the last few minutes and he's outbid so I bid it up $5 more, once again he's outbid again so I bid again. The auction stays with him winning until the last few seconds then someone else bids then I bid then someone else bids and wins by $5.
I get up from my desk and start walking to the living room (i'm living at home at this time) to tell my father he had lost the auction because someone bid more than he was willing to spend during the last few seconds. Before I told him he was outbid he said "I WON!" I was like what? I was just wathing it and bidding you didn't win! He said no I had your mom in here and she was bidding and I won. Come to find out mymom has her own ebay account and we were bidding back and forth for the SAME ITEM for my dad.
My dad's reason for having my mom watch was he didn't think I was going to really do it. So in the end he paid like $20 more than he should have because my mother and I had a bidding war in the same house for the same item on ebay!
